Anticipated contribution of licensed pumped storage power plants<br />

Eight countries <strong>in</strong> EURELECTRIC <strong>Europe</strong> have obta<strong>in</strong>ed licences to build new pumped<br />

storage power plants with a total <strong>in</strong>stalled pump<strong>in</strong>g capacity of 11.6 GW (see Figure<br />

7). 24 Licensed pump<strong>in</strong>g mode capacity and the maximum full-load operation hours of<br />

the new pumped storage power plants <strong>in</strong> these countries are shown <strong>in</strong> Table 1. Blank<br />

cells <strong>in</strong>dicate miss<strong>in</strong>g data.<br />

Anticipated contribution of pumped storage power plants <strong>in</strong> early plann<strong>in</strong>g stage<br />

Eighteen countries <strong>in</strong> EURELECTRIC <strong>Europe</strong> have new pumped storage facilities <strong>in</strong> an<br />

early plann<strong>in</strong>g stage (no licence yet). The total <strong>in</strong>stalled pump capacity of these plants<br />

is over 19 GW. 26 The total <strong>in</strong>stalled pump capacities for pumped storage power plants<br />

at an early plann<strong>in</strong>g stage are shown per country <strong>in</strong> Table 2. Blank cells <strong>in</strong>dicate<br />

miss<strong>in</strong>g data.<br />
