System description
Context Enersearch AB is an industrial energy R&D consortium, founded in the late 1990’s. Currently
the consortium consists of the following shareholders: ABB Automation Products, Energy
research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), EDP - Electricidade de Portugal, Eneco,
Iberdrola, IBM Utility Services, E.ON-Energie and Sydkraft. Enersearch is active in the fi eld
of utility business strategies.
Description of the
information system
The information on the Enersearch website is structured according to the three themes in
which the consortium is active: ‘new distribution technologies’, ‘the power grid as a critical
infrastructure’ and ‘intensive information use in market and business’. In each of the three
themes, a number of projects are carried out, that are presented in detail by means of
dedicated project websites. Current projects are:
- Crisp: ‘Critical infrastructures for sustainable power’
- ISPLC: ‘International symposium on power line communications and its applications’,
event organised every two years (2001, 2003, 2005);
- IT in energy: study on the role of information technology in improving effi ciency in future
energy systems;
- CRIS: the international institute for critical infrastructures;
- On-to-knowledge: ‘Content-driven Knowledge-Management through Evolving
Ontologies’;
- BUSMOD: ‘Business models in a world characterised by distributed generation’; and
- PALAS: PowerLine as an Alternative Local Access’.
Furthermore, the website contains a publications section and basic information on the
organisation.
Content Enersearch focuses on all issues related to power generation and distribution, including
information and ICT aspects and applications, business and marketing strategies and issues
related to security of supply.
