6.3.3. Nonetheless, the Committee feels that there is a general lack <strong>of</strong> awareness <strong>of</strong> IP<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essions among our students and more could be done to engage them from an<br />

early stage.<br />

Recommendation 5-2<br />

Seed interest in various IP career paths and develop understanding <strong>of</strong> IP from an<br />

early stage, so as to position the IP pr<strong>of</strong>ession as a rewarding one.<br />

6.3.4. We should aim to develop some level <strong>of</strong> understanding <strong>of</strong> the IP fields and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essions, and instil IP savvy early amongst our graduates and pre-tertiary<br />

students, to ensure that they are equ<strong>ip</strong>ped with the basic knowledge required to<br />

manage intellectual capital. The Committee recommends that Government start<br />

scholarsh<strong>ip</strong> schemes to encourage students to pursue IP-related careers. IPOS<br />

should also try to work with the industry to raise awareness <strong>of</strong> the various<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essions in the IP sector and the understanding <strong>of</strong> issues in IP disc<strong>ip</strong>lines,<br />

amongst graduates and students.<br />
