inter-ethnic trade is probably not possible. An indirect promotion could be possible. Since Kosovo needs economic investments to restart its failing economy, perhaps an ethnic map could be in the back of the head of policy makers who decide over these issues. If certain industries are created or stimulated that are dependent on each other in different ethnic majority areas this could lead to more inter-ethnic cooperation, for example. It would be too early now for extensive policies though, as the evidence from this thesis is not conclusive and more research has to be conducted. Regarding Kosovo, for now it needs a legal framework for trade so not too much of it is destroyed but only the most malicious and criminal elements are removed. As trade is currently one of the few instances of genuine contact between Albanians and Serbs in Mitrovica it should be harmed as little as possible. 83
