N De negentiende editie van het literaire liefdesprogramma Saint Amour
staat in het teken van De Onbereikbare. Dat de ideale liefde vaak onbereikbaar
blijft, wist de Romeinse dichter Ovidius tweeduizend jaar geleden al
toen hij Eurydice in de onderwereld liet verdwijnen. Of Dante, die zijn leven
lang verliefd was op Beatrice en haar de hoofdrol gaf in zijn Divina commedia.
Tijdens deze Saint Amour wijden Peter Buwalda, Wim Helsen, David Mitchell,
Connie Palmen, P.F. Thomése, Floortje Zwigtman en David Vann hun mooiste
treurdicht, lofzang of andere literair gehunker aan dit tijdloze fenomeen.
Filmfragmenten en de muziek van Dez Mona luisteren de avond op, Sven
Speybrouck presenteert.
F La dix-neuvième édition de Saint Amour, le programme littéraire consacré
à l’Amour, est placée sous le signe de L’Inaccessible. Que l’amour idéal soit
souvent inaccessible, le poète romain Ovide en était déjà conscient il y a deux
mille ans, lorsqu’il fit descendre Eurydice aux Enfers. Ou, Dante, amoureux sa
vie durant de Béatrice, au point qu’elle tiendra le rôle central de sa Divine Comédie.
Ce Saint Amour donnera la parole à Peter Buwalda, Wim Helsen, David
Mitchell, Connie Palmen, P.F. Thomése, Floortje Zwigtman et David Vann, afin
qu’ils y dévoilent leurs plus belles élégies, louanges et autres aspirations littéraires
à ce phénomène intemporel. Des fragments de films et la musique de
Dez Mona agrémenteront la soirée. Sven Speybrouck assurera la présentation
de l’événement.
E The nineteenth Saint Amour literary programme on the theme of love focuses
on The Unattainable. The Roman poet Ovid already knew two thousand years
ago that the ideal love often remains unattainable when he made Eurydice
disappear into the Underworld. So did Dante, who was in love with Beatrice
throughout his life and gave her the leading part in his Divine Comedy. For
this Saint Amour, Peter Buwalda, Wim Helsen, David Mitchell, Connie Palmen,
P.F. Thomése, Floortje Zwigtman and David Vann will be dedicating their finest
lament, ode or other literary yearning to this timeless phenomenon. The evening
is enhanced by film extracts and the music of Dez Mona, the presenter is
Sven Speybrouck.

N In deze nieuwe dansvoorstelling van Koen Augustijnen onderzoeken vijf dansers
van rond de veertig wat de mogelijkheden, verwachtingen en beloftes
kunnen zijn van ‘een leven na de dood’. Aangekomen in een overgangsruimte,
worden ze geconfronteerd met gedachten over wie ze waren, wat hun lotsbestemming
was, wat ze deden en niet deden. Om zijn beeld van het hiernamaals
neer te zetten, zocht en vond Augustijnen inspiratie in de jazzmuziek van Keith
Jarrett, die iets transcendentaal en metafysisch heeft.
F Dans la nouvelle création de Koen Augustijnen, cinq danseurs d’environ
40 ans s’interrogent sur les éventualités, les attentes et les promesses que
pourrait offrir une vie après la mort. Arrivés dans un espace de transit, ils se
voient confrontés à des idées relatives à leurs existences : qui étais-je vraiment
? Quel était mon but dans la vie ? Qu’ai-je fait et que n’ai-je pas fait ? Afin
de définir sa vision sur l’au-delà, Augustijnen a cherché et trouvé son inspiration
dans la musique jazz de Keith Jarrett, qui renferme quelque chose de
transcendantal et de métaphysique.
E In this new dance production by Koen Augustijnen, five dancers of about forty
years old examine what the possibilities, expectations and promises of ‘a life
after death’ might be. Having arrived in a place of transition, they are confronted
with thoughts about who they were, what their destiny was, and what they did
and did not do. To stage his vision of the hereafter, Augustijnen sought and found
inspiration in the jazz music of Keith Jarrett, which has a transcendental and
metaphysical air to it.

Walter Hus, is de perfecte kennismaking met
het grootste stripgenie van de laatste twintig jaar,
Chris Ware. Het gelijknamige boek schetst het
complete levensverhaal van Jordan Wellington Lint,
die uitblinkt in foute keuzes en gemiste kansen. De
leidmotieven, contrapunten en andere muzikale
elementen in dit beeldverhaal trokken de aandacht
van Walter Hus. Samen met Angélique Willkie en
Spectra Ensemble bouwt hij deze fabuleuze strip
om tot een stripconcert.

le plus grand génie de la bédé de ces vingt dernières
années : Chris Ware. Le livre au titre éponyme
est une esquisse de la vie de Jordan Wellington
Lint, qui se distingue par ses choix ratés et ses
occasions manquées. Leitmotivs, contrepoints et
autres éléments musicaux de cette bédé ont capté
l’attention de Walter Hus. Avec la complicité d’Angélique
Willkie et Spectra Ensemble, il transforme
cette fabuleuse bédé en un concert-bédé.
E Lint, the new strip cartoon opera project from
composer Walter Hus is the ideal way to get to know
the greatest cartoon genius of the last twenty years,
Chris Ware. The book of the same name sketches
the complete life story of a Jordan Wellington Lint,
who is remarkable for his wrong choices and missed
opportunities. It was the leitmotivs, counterpoints
and other musical elements in this ingeniously constructed
cartoon that caught the attention of Walter
Hus. Together with Angélique Willkie and Spectra
Ensemble, he converts this fabulous work into a real
cartoon concert.
