WHEREAS by "The Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage, 

and Drainage Act, 1909," it is provided that the 

Governor may by Order in Council alter or extend the 

boundaries of the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage, 

and Drainage Area or any district ; and whereas 

it is desirable that the boundaries of Metropolita n 

Stormwater Districts Nos. 2 and 1. should he altered : 

Now therefore I, the said Governor, acting by and 

with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby 

alter the boundaries of Metropolitan Stormwater Districts 

Ncs. 2 and 1, and declare that the said boundaries, 

as shown on Plan M.W.S., S., 85 D.D. No. 3449, 

and as described in Order in Council of 11th November, 

1922, shall be altered 1. 11 the following manner: by deleting

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that the 

areas scheduled hereunder will be available for selection 

under "The Land Act, 1898," and its amendments, on 

and after the dates set out in-the schedules. 

The areas marked " A" shall be open for selection 

by the special classes of selectors hereinafter named in 

the following order of preference: 

(1) Under "The Discharged Soldiers' Settlement 

Act, 1918," by "Discharged Soldiers" within 

the meaning of paragraphs (a), (b), and (e) 

of the interpretation of the term in Section 3 

of that Act, and "Dependants" within the

ApplicIttions must be lodged at the Local Land Office 

for the district in which the land is situated, and should 

be lodged on or before the date specified. 

All applications lodged on or before such date will 

he treated as having been received on the closing day, 

and if there are more applicants than one for any 

block the application to be granted will be determined 

by the Land Board, except in cases where it is already 

determined by the order of preference set out above 

under "A." Should any lands remain unselected such 

will continue available until applied for or otherwise 

dealt with. 

If a Land Board sitting becomes necessary, the applicants 

for the blocks will be duly notified of the date, 

time, and place of the meeting of the Board, and there 

shall be an interval of at least three days between the 

closing date and the sitting of the Board. 

If an applicant wishes to appear before the Land 

:Board in person he may apply to the Head Office or to 

the Clerk in Charge of any of the District or Branch 

Land Offices for a certificate to the Railway Department 

which, on presentation at the -nearest Railway Station, 

will entitle- him to a Return Ticket, at Excursion Rates, 

to the place where the Board will sit, available for seven 

days from the date of issue. 

The selector of a Homestead Farm from any location 

available under Part VIII. most take the balance thereof, 

if any, under Conditional Purchase. 

The prices quoted hereunder (exclusive of the value 

of improvements, if any. and survey fees. and land

Extended Limited to occupy, conditionally, the said 

reserve for a period of twelve months from the 27th day

Building By-laws.

1. No person shall lay out a. block of ground for 

building unless and until a plan showing clearly tics 

number of houses or buildings proposed to be erected 

there° n, and the area to be occupied by each house or 

b oil ding and the position of every drain and privy, aid 

a copy of the specification has been laid before and approved 

by the Board, in accordance with Building Regulation 

No. 2. 

2. No person shall commence to build, alter, add to, 

or-do any of the other acts or works mentioned in Building 

Regulation No. 3, unless he: 

(a.) Shall have made application in the f0111 provided 

in Schedule " A," and 

(1)) Shall ha we deposited plans and specifications 

prepared bi accordance with By-law No. 4, 

(c) 

and 

Shall have paid the appropriate fees as set out 

in Schedule "B," tuul 

(d) Until there has been issued therefor a Building 

License in the form set out in Schedule "C," 

and the plans and specifications have been 

duly endorsed as approved by the Board. 

Penalty for breach, not exceeding 3n), and £2 per day 

for such time as the offence continues. 

:3. No person who shall have obtained the approval 

of the Board as provided. hereinbefore, in respect of any 

building or addition or alteration, shall in the construction 

of such building or addition or alteration curtail 

or otherwise depart from. the plans and specifications 

which have been approved, without the written consent 

of the Board first had and obtained, and such alterationS 

or departures from approved plans and specifications 

shall be \VII, described, and endorsed on and in the 

plans and specifications. 

Penalty for breach, not exceeding £20, and £2 per day 

for such time as the offence continues. 

4. All plans shall be neatly made in ink (scale 

feet to one inch) on drawing paper, tracing. cloth, or 

sunprint of at least 15in. x 20in. in size. The plans 

plull show every storey, elevations of external fronts, 

and one or more sections, showifig the heights of storeys, 

depth of foundations, level of ground, construction of 

walls, roofs, floors, etc., all clearly figured and dimensioned 

io feet and inches. 

There shall also be deposited a locality plan (scale 

not less than 16 feet to one inch), showing the position 

of the site on the block of the-proposed building, :Ind. 

showing. other buildings existing thereon, with all drains, 

privies, and other works. 

Collies of the locality and ground plans shall be left 

permanently with the Board. All plans, drawings, and 

specifications must be signed by the building owner or 

his duly authorised agent. 

All specifications shall be compiled so as to clearly 

and fully set forth the materials, workmanship, and 

every detail for the due completion of the work it refers 

to. 

Plans and speci flea tions shall be left with the Board 

at least seven (lays before the issue of the Building' 

License. 

5. 'Whenever requested to do so by the Board, the 

holder of a Building License shall produce for inspection 

any plan or specification that has been approved by the 

Board and referred to in such Building License. 

6. The level of the ground flour of any building shall 

not be less than three inches above the level of the adjacent 

footway or crown of the road, without the written 

permission of the Board first had. In eases where the 

road or footpath has not been constructed, the level of 

the ground door shall be at such height as the Board 

shall determine, and for this purpose a cross section 

of the indicting site shall be supplied by thin building 

owner, showing the relative levels of the site and the 

unmade road. 

7. The Board may refuse to approve of any plan or 

specification which has not by reason of inflammable 

material proposed to be used, or for other reason, proper 

regard to the safety of persons or other buildings in the 

event of fire. 

S. The Board may refuse to approve of any plans 

or specifications which, in the opinion of the Board, are 

by reason of size, or design of construction or architecture, 

calculated to have a depreciative effect on adjacent 

buildings or on the locality where the proposed buildings 

would be erected. 

9. No license will be granted for the erection of a 

building of wood or iron, or with materials other than 

brick, stone, or artificial stone unless the position and 

design, or value of such building will not, in the opinion 

of the Board, be prejudicial to adjacent buildings, or to 

the locality where the proposed building's would be 

erected. 

10. No part of a building to be used as a dwelling 

house shall be placed at a lesser distance than five feet 

irom the side boundaries of the block, nor at a lesser 

distance than ten feet from the road boundary or any 

adjacent building., unless the written authority of the 

hoard has been first obtained. 

11. No person shall open any footpath or road, or 

place any materials upon the same, nor erect any staging 

thereon, unless lie first give three days' clear notice thereof 

in writing, and deposits the sum of £5, and have 

obtained the written consent of the Board, and slain 

comply with all conditions as to coverings, railings, 

lights, and other requirenients which may be set out in 

thin consent herein referred to. 

(a) On the completion of the work, the person to 

whom the consent has been issued shall, 

within three days, fill in and repair all disturbances 

in the road or footpath, and shall 

remove all materials therefrom. On the work 

of repair and removal having been dens to 

the satisfaction of the Board, the deposit will 

be refunded in due course. 

(b) If the work referred to in (a) has not been 

done to the satisfaction of the Board or is 

unduly delayed, the Board may do the necessary 

work at the cost and charge of the 

person to whom the aforesaid consent was 

given. 

12. No person shall erect any verandah (or other 

projection) over any public way without first having' 

deposited plans and specifications of the proposed erection, 

and if approved by the Board, the said plans and 

specifieations shall be endorsed as approved, subject, 

however, to any conditions which may be attached 

thereto. 

No advertising, trade, or other signs shall be displayed 

on any verandah (or other projection) over any 

public way save with the written approval of the Board 

first had. 

13. A privy in accordance with the Health By-laws 

shall be provided before any further work is done (where 

such is not already on the premises) for the use of all 

workmen employe(li on the job. 

14. Any person who does any act contrary to, or 

neglects or omits to do any act required to be done 

within the meaning of these By-laws shall, where no 

specific penalty is otherwise provided, incur a penalty 

not exceed'ng and a further penalty of per day 

for each the offence continues.

attached By-laws of the Canning Road Board, in accordance

'WHEREAS by "The Road Districts Act, 1919," the 

Road Board of any District is empowered to make Bylaws 

for all or any purpose of the said Act mentioned; 

And whereas the Canning District Road Board, in pursuance 

of the power vested in the said Board and under


and by virtue of the said Act and of every other authority 

enabling it in that behalf, cloth hereby make and 

publish the following By-laws: 

1. Any person owning a goat of either sex over three 

months old shall cause such goat to be registered yearly 

and pay the prescribed fee. 

2. The annual registration fee for each goat kept 

within the Canning Road District shall be sixpence. 

3. Every registered goat shall wear a disc to be supplied 

by the Board at a charge of sixpence. 

4. The Board may seize, impound, or destroy goats, 

whether licensed or unlicensed, found straying in public 

places.

NURSES' REGISTRATION ACT, 1921. 

Training Hospitals. 

WHEREAS it is provided in "The Nurses' Registration 

Act, 1921," and the Regulations made thereunder, 

that the Hospitals at which the training of nurses is 

undertaken shall be approved by the Nurses' Registration 

Board; and whereas it is further provided that 

the names of Hospitals so approved shall be published 

in the Government Gal-cite: Now, therefore, the Nurses' 

Registration Board has approved of the following Hospitals 

at which the training of nurses may be under

Proposed Loan of £2,300. 

NOTICE is hereby given that the Midland Junction 

Local Board of Health has received the approval of 'His 

Excellency the Governor, under the provisions of the 

Health Act, 1911-1919, to borrow the suns of £2,300, 

to be expended to provide for the purchase of sanitary 

plant, pans, and appliances for the removal and treatment 

of nightsoil and refuse. 

The rate of interest to be paid on Debentures to be 

issued will be £6 per cent= per annum, such interest 

to be payable half-yearly on the first day of May and 

the first day of November in each year, at the Western. 

Australian Bank, Midland Junction, and the said Debentures 

to be repayable at Western Australian Bank, 

Midland Junction, 10 years after date of issue thereof, 

with right to redeem the whole after five years.

2. Blocks will only be approved in favour of those applicants who satisfy the Land Board that they possess the necessary 

experience to enable them to successfully develop and work their holdings. 

3. No applicant will be permitted to hold more than one block, except wills tin aliproval of the Minister ; husband 

and wife to be considered as one person. 

4. Applications to be subject to examination of original plans. 

5. Right reserved to the Government to enter upon the land and construct and maintain drains as required, free of compensation. 

6. Any bridges required for drains passing through blocks must be constructed at selector's expense. 

7. Potatoes growing on Lot 18 to be the property of the Crown, the right being reserved to enter and remove same. 

8. Possession to be taken within three months, and residence be requisite during the first five years, except with the

WHEREAS it is enacted by " The Factories and Shops 

Act, 1920," that the expression "Public Holiday" shall 

mean certain days therein specified and any other day 

declared by Proclamation to be a public holiday for the 

purposes of the said Act : Now therefore I, the said 

Governor, acting by and with the advice and consent of 

the Executive Council, acting under the powers contained 

in the said Act, and every other power me in 

this behalf enabling, do hereby proclaim and declare 

that Thursday, the 3rd day of May, 1923, shall be a 

public holiday in the Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Brown Hill- 

Ivanhoe, and Hannans Shop District (in lieu of Wednesday, 

2nd May, as proclaimed in the Gazette on 13th 

April, 1923) for the purposes of the said Act, and such 

clay shall be observed as a public holiday under every 

part of the said Act in which the expression occurs.
