• The Nelson Saturday Market is the ultimate
experience. prowl the lanes and meet local
artisans selling their wares. saturdays,
8am-1pm, montgomery square.
• World of WearableArt & Classic Cars Museum
showcases a selection of the winning entries
from the brancott estate WoW awards.
studying the intricacies of the garments up
close, you gain the impression their creators
stitch a little piece of their soul into each
masterpiece. take your time to also explore
the wonderful classic car gallery.
• Ceramic pioneers – Christine Boswijk, Katie
gold, royce mcglashen are names of note.
Visit south st gallery for a selection of works
by local potters.
• Art Glass – Hoglund Art Glass and Flamedaisy.
• Jewellery by Jens Hansen, creator of the “One
ring” for the lord of the rings movies.
• Painters – Sally Burton, Robin Slow, Sally
papps, anna leary, nic Foster, lloyd
harwood to name but a few.
• Art Galleries – Red Art Gallery, the Suter
gallery and the nelson provincial museum.

region. Wind your way through the fertile
countryside, stopping at the studios of
artists who pique your interest.
Events
nelson arts Festival kicks off each october
including a masked parade and dozens of
events including theatre, dance, cabaret and
music (www.nelsonfestivals.co.nz). the
nelson Winter music Festival runs for 16 days in
July (www.nelsonwinterfestival.co.nz), and
the Woollaston nelson Jazz and blues Festival in
early January (www.nelsonjazzfest.co.nz).
the biennial adam chamber music Festival is in
