√ The established partnership with
the Kerang Aboriginal Community
Centres remains strong with the
celebration of the one year
anniversary of the weekly cooking
classes and the success of the
Indigenous Games held at the
Kerang Primary School. Council
were again invited to participate
in National Aboriginal and Islander
Day Observance Committee
(NAIDOC) week celebrations.
√ The rollout of the Digital TV Home
Assistance Scheme was successful
and of assistance to the elderly
within the Shire.
√ The Elder Abuse Pathway was
adopted by the Gannawarra
Health and Wellbeing Network.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
√ During the 2010/2011 year
Community Planning Groups used
$96,156 of Community Planning
project funds made available by
Council. These funds were able to
lever an amount of $244,828 in
grants and other external funding
as well as $76,265 of in-kind
support. $4,966 was used to
support events across the Shire
this year.

√ The Strengthening Local
Communities project is progressing
well. Three Community Action
Plans have been reviewed and
renewed with another seven due to
be completed by the end of 2011.
An evaluation of the project was
completed by consultants Local
Logic Place in June 2011. This
evaluation made recommendations
and set benchmarks to allow the
success of the project to be
measured. A final evaluation will
also be conducted at the
conclusion of the project. As a
