Student reflections
We, the student body of OCHS, are back again,
returning to our busy schedules, cafeteria lines,
friendly faces and crowded halls.
Yes, September 8 definitely marked the end of
summer. School has started! Announcements constantly
coming over the PA system invite all students
to join activities and clubs. Class meetings have
started, float preparations are in the making.
Scrimmages and football practices are sure signs of
September. And slowly but surely OC is losing its
visitors.
Soon it will be deep into fall, everyone set into their
old winter and school routines. Then the freshly
painted walls and newly waxed floors will be nothing
new — hardly even noticeable. It will be all in the
past. Another year will have gone by. Another year at
OCHS.
NEW TOP MAN—Recently named high school
principal George Kasunich tells the student body how
things are going to be at the orientation assembly last
week in the high school auditorium.
NEW AT SCHOOL—New history teacher John
Liebhauser tells his class of high school students
what it was all about in the good old days. Liebhauser
. will also be wrestling coach.
History teacher added to staff
New to the OCHS teaching
staff this year is Mr. John
liebhauser, who is a graduate
of Utah State and Duquesne in
Pittsburgh. This will be his
sixth year of teaching.
Mr. Liebhauser's History H
class is studying youth culture
at the present. This is a break
from the. traditional way of
beginning History II at the Civil
War or Spanish-American War
and working up to recent
history. Often recent history is
glossed over because of in-
The students recently were
given a choice of projects to
complete concerning youth
culture. They could do a collage
dealing with topics that concern
young people today - music, the
war or ecology - or review a cut
from a record or discuss the
main theme of one of the books
that were mentioned in class.
Mr. Liebhauser likes OCHS
and its students and describes
Ocean City as "quiet."
Mr. Liebhauser, though new
to OCHS, is getting involved
with its activities as as he will
be the wrestling coach.
