WEEKLY REPORTNO. 187<br />

The report period covered by Weekly Report No. 187 is from Monday, 12 March 2001<br />

through Sunday, 18 March 2001. The Resident Engineer’s Weekly Report and the<br />

Construction Quality Control (CQC) Consultant’s Weekly Report are combined into one<br />

report for the: (i) On-Site Disposal Facility (OSDF) Phase I1 and Phase 111 projects; and<br />

(ii) Enhanced Permanent Leachate Transmission System (EPLTS) project. During the<br />

period, there was approximately 0.8 inches of rain recorded.<br />

Construction Progress<br />

OSDF Phase II<br />

No fieldwork activities.<br />

OSDF Phase III<br />

IT Corporation, the Phase 111 Cell 1 Cover Construction Contractor continued providing<br />

submittals for the construction work. Construction is anticipated to start in Spring 2001.<br />

Fluor Fernald continued to receive No. 78 coarse aggregate for the Cell 1 cover drainage<br />

layer. Hauling was discontinued on 16 March 200 1 due to failing conformance sampling.<br />

EPLTS<br />

The STAVER Group, Inc. (STAVER) placed 304 stone for the entrance of Valve House<br />

5 (VH-5). The UMTA drainage corridor near VH-4 was completed and compacted fill<br />

was placed between VH-5 and VH-6.<br />

STAVERs subcontractor, ISCO, welded flange rings in the Control Valve House and<br />

made repairs in VH-5 and VH-6. Sponge testing for leak detection by Fluor Fernald<br />

revealed leaks in other Valve Houses that will be repaired by ISCO in the following<br />

week.<br />
