WEEKLY REPORT NO. 190<br />

The report period covered by Weekly Report No. 190 is from Monday, 2 April 2001 through<br />

Sunday, 8 April 2001. The Resident Engineer’s Weekly Report and the Construction Quality<br />

Control (CQC) Consultant’s Weekly Report are combined into one report for the: (i) On-Site<br />

Disposal Facility (OSDF) Phase II and Phase III projects; and (ii) Enhanced Permanent<br />

Leachate Transmission System (EPLTS) project. During the period, there was 0.4 inches of<br />

precipitation recorded.<br />

Construction Progress<br />

OSDF Phase 11<br />

No fieldwork activities.<br />

OSDF Phase 111<br />

IT Corporation (IT), the Phase I11 Cell 1 Cover Construction Contractor continued providing<br />

submittals for the construction work.<br />

Fluor Femald continued to receive riprap (Type D Dumped Rock fill) and No. 78 stone for the<br />

Cell 1 cover drainage layer.<br />

IT began Phase I11 construction on 4 April 2001 with the placement of two reinforced concrete<br />

pipe (RCP) culverts along the borrow area haul road for storm water runoff control. An access<br />

ramp into Cell 1 was completed and the first lift of non-impacted contouring layer was started<br />

during the report period.<br />

EPLTS<br />

The STAVER Group, Inc. (STAVER) placed compacted fill around Valve House 6 (VH-6). The<br />

Leachate Detection System (LDS) pipeline from Cell 1 was cut at the tie-in point for Manhole<br />

No. 1 (MH-1). A series of pneumatic pressure tests were run on the existing LDS carrier and<br />

containment pipes of the LDS line into Cell 1 as required by the project specifications. The tests<br />

resulted in a loss of pressure; however, no visible leaks were detected from the test gauge or the
