3.2.5 Visibility<br />

The monthly average visibility based on the <strong>India</strong> Meteorological observations at<br />

Paradeep is presented in Table 3.6. Visibility is less in July and August compared<br />

to other months.<br />

3.3 PHYSICAL PROCESSES<br />

3.3.1 Tides<br />

Tides in the area are mixed, semidiurnal type with an average spring tide range of<br />

<strong>1.</strong>87 m and a neap tide range of 0.7 m (Paradeep Port Tide Table, 2005). Tidal<br />

levels at Paradeep are presented below.<br />

Highest astronomical tide (HAT) +3.06 m<br />

Mean high water springs (MHWS) +2.58 m<br />

Mean high water neaps (MHWN) +2.02 m<br />

Mean sea level (MSL) +<strong>1.</strong>66 m<br />

Mean low water neap (MLWN) +<strong>1.</strong>32 m<br />

Mean low water spring (MLWS) +0.71 m<br />

Mean lower low water springs (MLLS) +0.64 m<br />
