2 Exterior walls in one story building with framing
constructed of non-combustible materials
surface of which is applied with wood-fibercement
sheet of thickness 1.5 cm. or more, or
fire-protecting timber of thickness 0.9 cm. or
more to receive the finishing of sheet metal shall
be treated as fire-resisting construction.
(Fire-door and Other Fire Protective Facilities)
Article 109. By fire-door and other fire protective
facilities mentioned in the provisions of Article
64 of the Law shall mean any one of the items
as described below :
(1) Fire door A;
(2) Fire door B;
(3) Drencher installed in opening which has
passed the inspection to be conducted by the
National Fire Defence Agency.
2 Fireproof- or fire-resisting exterior wall, wing wall
and other similar construction that built cutting
across an opening in a building or buildings and
all parts of boundary line, center line of road
and center line of exterior wall of each building
constituting more than 2 houses within the same lot
(building with total floor area less than 500 sq. m.
considered as one house) located or separated at
the distance 3 m. or less from the opening concerned
in case of one story and 5 m., or less in
2nd floor or above to the above mentioned center
lines, shall be considered as the fire-facilities
mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
3 In ventilation opening of area 100 sq. cm. or
less, the fire-resisting protection made of iron
plate, mortar slab and other similar materials
(including vent located in part 1 m. less from
ground level protected by metal wire net of
2 mm. mesh.) shall be considered as the firefacilities
mentioned in paragraph 1.
(Construction of Fire-door)
Article 110. Fire door A mentioned in the preceding
Article paragraph 1 item (1) shall mean one
of the constructions describad in one.of the
following items :
(1) Frame shall be steel with steel plate of
thickness 0.5 mm. or more applied on all faces;
(2) Made of steel, with steel plate of thickness
1.5 mm.or more;
(3) Made of steel frame concrete or of reinforced
concrete of thickness 3.5 cm. or more;
(4) Door of dozo-construction *of thickness 15
cm. or more;
(5) That specified as having equal or superior
fire-resisting quality by the Minister of Construction
upon hearing the opinion of the
Director of National Fire Defence Agency in
addition to those given in the foregoing items.
2 Fire-door B mentioned in the preceding Article
paragraph 1 item (2) shall satisfy one of the
following requirements in its construction :
(1) Made of steel plate of thickness less than

1.5 mm.;
(2) Made of steel frame concrete or reinforced
concrete of thickness less than 3.5cm. ;
(3) Door of dozo-construction of thickness less
than 15 cm.;
(4) Steel construction with wired glass inserted;
(5) Fire-protecting timber frame with galvanized
sheet iron applied on all faces;
(6) Fire-protecting timber frame with interior
faces applied with fire-protecting timber board
of thickness 0.9 cm. or more, and its exterior
face protected by application of galvanized
iron sheet ;
(7) That recognized as having equal or superior
fire-resisting quality by the Minister of Construction
upon hearing the opinion of the
Director of National Fire Defence Agency and,
in addition to those given in the foregoing
items.
3 Door for opening of 500sq.cm. or less in area
made of fire-protecting timber frame insertion of
wired-glass shall be considered as fire-door B in
the preceding paragraph.
4 The part of fire door coming in contact with
frame or other fire door shall be of tongue and
groove fit, or of, "jogibuchi" or door stop, so it
shall be intact in place in case of fire, and shall
be so installed that the hardware building fire
door will not show where closed.
5 Fire door mentioned in paragraph 1 item (1) or
item (2), or paragraph 2 item (1) or item (4)
shall be installed in opening where surrounding
of opening (in case fixture is to be installed
within 15cm. inside of fire door, that fixture
shall be included) is constructed of non-combustible
materials or fire-protecting timber.
(Principal Important Materials for Fire Prevention)
Article 111. Cement,metal lath, wire lath, wood-firecement
sheet, fire-protecting timber, fire-protecting
point, or other principal fire-resisting materials
similar to them to be used in structural parts in
addition to the principal parts of construction on
the structural parts of fire-proof construction and
fire-resisting construction or fire doors.
(Fire-preventing Section)
Article 112. Building that its principal part of
construction is constructed of fireproof or noncombustible
materials, and its floor area exceeding
1500 sq. m. there shall be provided with fire
fighting section at convenient part so that total
floor area of part included in that section shall
not exceed 1500 sq. m., and constituting either
floor or wall of fireproof construction, or with
fire door A. However, in the case of a part of
building provided with sprinkler or in the indispensable
case due to its use, such as seating
room, theater, cinema, show house, place of review,
auditorium or assembly hall, indoor sport
