Over the past three decades, Batdefield<br />
Band has played a central role in the<br />
Scottish folk music revival. Although<br />
undergoing several changes m personnel,<br />

extensive touring schedule makes it one of<br />
the best-known Scottish traditional bands<br />

entertainer. Cunningham was a cotounder<br />
of Silly Wizard, a member of<br />
such noted groups as Relativity and<br />
Night Noise, and a mainstay of numerous<br />
Masters of Celtic Fiddle tours in the<br />
United States. Now based in New<br />
England, he tours extensively and is a<br />
regular headliner at international festivals<br />
and concert series.<br />

dedicated to both old and new Shetland<br />
traditional music. The Folklife Festival is<br />

One of Scotland's fmest fiddlers and<br />
performers, Fr.)ser is revered by Celtic<br />
music lovers on both sides of the Atlantic.<br />
Many Americans are familiar with his<br />
playing from movie soundtracks (Tlie Last<br />
of the Mohicans. Titanic}, performances at<br />
the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center,<br />
and his acclaimed band Skyedance. Now<br />
based in Cahfornia, he directs the 100-<br />
member San Francisco Fiddlers orchestra<br />
and hisV.illey ot the Moon fiddle school,<br />
which has spread interest in Scottish<br />
tiddle styles throughout North America.<br />

This young people's tiddle orchestra trom<br />
Fochabers m northern Scotland has several<br />
recordings and international tours to its<br />
credit. Led by J.imes Alexander, the group<br />
reflects the importance placed on traditional<br />
arts and arts instruction in Scottish<br />
communities. <br />

CJardiner grew up near Fortar in eastern<br />
Scotland. He is an enthusiastic singer ot<br />
North-East bothy (agricultural) ballads,<br />
many of which he learned from Tam and<br />
Anne Reid of Cullerlie, Aberdeenshire.<br />

Ossian, Jackson is<br />

composer, arranger, teacher, and pertormer.<br />

Glasgow Herald"s lyyy "Song for<br />
Scotland" competition.<br />

One of Scotland's tbremost exponents of<br />
clarsach (harp) music, scholar of harp<br />
history, singer, and renowned glass artist,<br />
Kinnaird was awarded the M.B.E. in 1997<br />
for services to music and art. Christine<br />
Primrose, with whom she often performs<br />
and records, is an outst.mding Gaelic<br />
singer from the Isle of Lewis who teaches<br />
tradinonal song at the Gaehc College in<br />
Skye. Both pertormers have won top<br />
honors at the National Mod and the<br />
Pan-Celtic Festival in Killarney<br />
