Advocacy is not new to <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong>. Did you know<br />
that the first <strong>Girl</strong> Scout handbook, published in<br />
1913, was entitled, How <strong>Girl</strong>s can Help Their Country?<br />
This year, our country will elect a President and other<br />
key political figures to serve our citizens. It will be top<br />
<strong>of</strong> the news every day until Election Day in November.<br />

If you and your friends are interested in learning<br />
more about the voting process in a patriotic and<br />
non political manner, the Scout the Vote patch<br />
program is for you. In the program located under<br />
the ‘For <strong>Girl</strong>s’ section <strong>of</strong> www.gsep.org there are<br />
activities for girls from Kindergarten to 12th grade.<br />
When you have completed the activities that<br />
correspond to your grade level, you can go to one<br />
<strong>of</strong> the council shops and purchase a Scout the Vote<br />
fun patch.<br />
