BRONZE AWARD
First Aid Kits, Amuse Journey, & Ms. Presidents
A troop of Junior Girl Scouts earned the
Bronze Award, the highest award for a
Junior Girl Scout, by creating first aid kits
for local free libraries of Philadelphia,
White Rock Baptist Church library and
for 100 attendees at Girl Scout Sunday
service. Each scout collected supplies,
designed kits, and delivered/distributed
their first aid kits. Their kits included
band-aids, antiseptic wipes and gauze
for basic first aid along with instructions
on how to care for basic injuries. The Girl
Scout Juniors learned the essentials of
a first aid kit while earning their first aid
badge. They attended Scout Day at the
National Constitution Center where they
participated in activities and discussed
the first aid topic with the FBI, EMTs, and
local police and firefighters. They also
earned the Inside Government Badge
while learning how to be global citizens.
They attended the “We the People”
presentation. With their knowledge of
their presidents and citizenships, they
decided to bust the stereotype of no
female presidents. Each Girl Scout
selected a president and renamed
their president a “female name” and
researched what their president was
famous for during their presidency.
They applied the Girl Scout Law
and acted out how they would have
been the female president during
their presidency. They completed
the Amuse journey by having a
round table breakfast discussion
as Ms. Presidents and celebrated
the completion of the their Amuse
journey with “ an everybody” birthday
celebration in honor of the 100th
birthday of Girl Scouts in March 2012.
