A Sizzling Celebration
Flashes of color and the sounds of dueling
pianos overwhelmed the crowd on September
24, 2010 for Gateway to Hope’s inaugural gala,
KaleidoHope at Moulin.
Over 300 people attended the gala, which featured a fun
cocktail hour, a delicious barbeque buffet, and dueling piano
show performed by musicians Philip “Spanky” Manaois and
Chris “Luppy” Swan.
GTH board members Roberta Gartenberg, Margie Jaffe,
Sue Lesser, and Fran Zamler co-chaired the gala, and
arranged every detail.
Volunteers: Katie Frank, Jessica Gartenberg, Marlowe Lynn, Mackenzie Pass
Bob Clark, Betty and Julian Hess
“The decorations were over the top; the atmosphere was
exhilarating. It was just a wonderfully festive, upbeat event!”
co-chair Margie Jaffe was thrilled to report.
In addition to dinner, cocktails, and entertainment,
KaleidoHope featured an oral auction, where guests bid
on an array of packages ranging from a wine package to a
Dallas sports weekend and a New York theatre package.
Despite
being the
first gala
hosted by
Gateway to
Hope, an
expansive
social network
successfully
recruited a
large crowd
for the event.
Co-chairs: Sue Lesser, Roberta Gartenberg, Fran Zamler,
and Margie Jaffe
“Some of the
guests were not aware of GTH prior to KaleidoHope. The
gala provided awareness. We’ve created ambassadors that
will hopefully continue to expand the network of advocacy
for years to come” GTH co-founder Dr. David Caplin said.
In its first year, KaleidoHope raised much needed funds for
Gateway to Hope, but according to co-chair Sue Lesser,
raising money wasn’t GTH’s only goal. “We wanted to create
an event that would get people to come back. A fun-filled
night of entertainment seemed like a great idea,” Sue said.
And that is exactly what KaleidoHope managed to achieve.
“After the event, people kept saying how wonderful and fun
it was; and that we did a really nice job of raising awareness
about our cause” Sue said.
The gala would not have been possible without the sponsorship
of Clayco; Enterprise Holdings Foundation; Simons
Jewelers; Janice and Hugh Grant; John and Debbie Capps;
Financial Management Partners; Robert Lococo; Luxco,
Marmi; Premier Rentals LLC; and two anonymous donors.
Francine Katz, KaleidoHope Sponsor Chair said “Gateway to
Hope literally saves lives. I was so happy to contribute, and I
was thrilled that so many companies were willing to sponsor
the event.”
KaleidoHope
2011 will take
place on
November 19,
2011. Be sure
to save the
date for
another funfilled
evening.
