Paralysis in Hands & Feet ( Primary Disability ) Aim : There are three main aims : 1. Prevent setting in of contracture 2. Decrease existing contracture 3. Strengthen weak muscle Method : All the above aims can be achieved by doing exercises. There are two types of exercises : 1. Active : In active exercise, patient uses his weak muscles to do the exercise. This will - prevent contracture and - strengthen the weak muscle. 2. Passive : In passive exercise, patient is helped to move the paralysed the part. This will - prevent contracture but - cannot strengthen the weak muscle.
