egarded as the teachers of pupils at that grade level will be transferred.<br />

6.3 In the case of opening of a new school in the fall, the presently employed teachers to<br />

be assigned to it shall receive official notice in writing of that transfer by the close of<br />

school, if known.<br />

6.4 Involuntary Transfer. If, as a solution to a problem (different from those listed in<br />

“Administrative Transfer”) a teacher is to be transferred to another school, such a<br />

transfer may not be effected until after a meeting between the teacher involved and the<br />

appropriate administrator(s). At this time, the teacher shall be notified of the reason(s)<br />

for transfer, shall be apprised of his or her rights, and shall be given the opportunity to<br />

respond. In the event that a teacher objects to the transfer, he or she shall, upon<br />

request, have a meeting with the Superintendent or designee. The teacher, at his or<br />

her option, may have a person of his or her choice accompany him or her at the<br />

meeting.<br />

ARTICLE VII<br />

Vacancies<br />

7.1 Announcement of Vacancies. Vacancies which are to be filled in administration,<br />

supervision, department chairpersons, teachers-in-charge, teacher specialists,<br />

mentors, and eleven-month positions will be advertised.<br />

7.2 All applicants will receive consideration but in the case of equal qualifications, the<br />

first preference will be given to professional workers in <strong>Harford</strong> <strong>County</strong>. During the<br />

summer months, such announcements shall be posted in the central office and a copy<br />

sent to the Association.<br />

7.3 Application. Candidates are to complete and submit a formal application form with a<br />

transcript of all college studies to the Human Resources Department.<br />

7.4 Preliminary Screening. Applications and supporting data, i.e. transcripts,<br />

professional experience and references, will be reviewed, and the most promising<br />

candidates will be scheduled for interview. Candidates who are eliminated in the<br />

preliminary screening will be so notified.<br />

7.5 Interview and Selection Committee. The Superintendent will appoint an Interview<br />

and Selection Committee to interview the remaining candidates and to make<br />

recommendations to the Superintendent.<br />
