Brief description of project<br />
Objectives<br />
Outcomes:<br />
Six month project within South and East Belfast <strong>Health</strong> and social<br />
Services Trust area.<br />
• To establish contact with community groups within the South and<br />
East Belfast area, raising awareness of domestic violence.<br />
• To provide training for anyone working, paid or unpaid, within<br />
community groups.<br />
• To organise three seminars with the South and East Belfast area<br />
bringing together relevant outside agencies to deliver a multi-agency<br />
approach to the problem of domestic violence.<br />
• To co-ordinate days within local communities.<br />
• Made numerous contacts with community leaders and activists and<br />
attended many meetings.<br />
• Set up and delivered awareness training sessions to 36 women’s<br />
groups.<br />
• Organised four seminars.<br />
• Had two successful information days in shopping centres giving out<br />
booklets and leaflets to the local community.<br />
• Produced and delivered a two-day training pack for community<br />
workers.<br />
• This work also produced interest from many other groups, such as<br />
churches, mother and toddler groups, and advice centres, some<br />
requesting talks and more information.<br />
