Brief description of project<br />
Objectives<br />
This is a course designed by the Trust to help management and staff<br />
improve their understanding of stress in the workplace. It suggests<br />
ways of recognising when pressure is beginning to impact on work<br />
performance and how to manage this.<br />
The course objectives include:<br />
• How to recognise stress in yourself and others.<br />
• Assessing personal stressors.<br />
• Developing coping strategies.<br />
• Relaxation techniques.<br />
Outcomes: Planned The course has benefited participants in identifying personal stressors<br />
and stress-related behaviour in others. Exploring a variety of<br />
relaxation techniques and alternative therapies have also been<br />
identified as a positive result from the course.<br />

Brief description of project<br />
Objectives<br />
This is a course designed for <strong>Health</strong>care and PAM (professions allied<br />
to medicine) Assistants. A large section of the course looks at stress as<br />
an individual issue but other related areas – smoking, alcohol<br />
consumption and exercise/physical activity are also addressed.<br />
For the issue of stress the course objectives include:<br />
• Recognising how stress effects our body – long and short term.<br />
• Recognising how work performance can be affected by stress.<br />
• Identifying ways to reduce stress.<br />
• Autogenic relaxation – participation in a relaxation technique.<br />
Outcomes: Planned Participants have expressed increased knowledge and enjoyment of<br />
relaxation session through end of course evaluation returns.<br />
