Brief description of project<br />
Objectives<br />
Age Concern is a national voluntary organisation committed, through<br />
campaigning and service provision to promoting the rights of older<br />
people as active, involved and equal citizens. Much of the work relates<br />
to combating social isolation.<br />
• To develop and promote the campaigning role of Age Concern<br />
Northern Ireland.<br />
• To develop a full range of quality services to meet the needs of older<br />
people.<br />
• To work co-operatively with Age Concern groups and other<br />
organisations to meet the needs of older people.<br />
Outcomes: Planned Direct Social Care – including residential, day care, social centres,<br />
advice and information, home care.<br />
Community Development – including 29 Age Concern local groups<br />
Ageing Well Schemes, capacity building projects, ‘user’ panels, Better<br />
Government for older people initiatives.<br />
Campaigning – including social policy analysis, International Year of<br />
Older Persons, 1999, Millennium Debate of the Age, etc.<br />
