dataModules ®
“Accessing the Analog World”
RTD was founded on data acquisition over 20 years ago, and has since been providing the PC/104 industry with dataModules that are second to none. We provide a wide
array of data acquisition and control modules with auto-calibrating analog I/O, advanced digital I/O, SyncBus for multi-board simultaneous sampling, and a high-speed
McBSP serial port in PC/104, PC/104-Plus, PCI-104, and PCI/104-Express form factors. In today’s high accuracy environments, where discerning signal from noise at
high throughput rates is the difference between success and failure, RTD is continually redefining the DAQ industry.
Autonomous SmartCal
SDM series Smart dataModules feature a DSP for software independent, multi-range auto-calibration. An
on-board temperature sensor allows for triggering auto-calibration in dynamic thermal environments. An
operating system independent Autonomous SmartCal performs an in-circuit offset and gain adjustment for
all ranges in under 300 ms. Values acquired from the last user calibration are loaded at power up. Factory
calibration defaults can also be loaded. Smart dataModules feature on-board Flash and internal DSP SRAM for
user DSP applications, and are available in PC/104-Plus and PCI-104.
Analog
Analog I/O solutions feature 12-bit or 16-bit resolution, with FIFO buffers, sample rates up to 1.25 MHz, and
16/32 single-ended or 8/16 differential inputs. Analog outputs feature 12-bit or 16-bit resolution with up to
8 outputs. Many models combine analog and digital I/O. A channel-gain table allows for unique scanning
patterns controlled by the hardware. A single trigger can initiate one scan of the entire channel-gain table in
burst mode, or scan the table multiple times in multi-burst mode. Pre-, post-, and about-trigger modes ensure
that you collect only the data you want.
Digital
Bit or byte programmable digital I/O modules are enhanced by RTD’s advanced interrupts to detect a pattern
match or bit change. Options include pulse width modulators, incremental encoders, user programmable
timer/counters, relays, and MOSFETs.
Software
dataModules include fully documented drivers, libraries, example programs and source code. Native support is
provided for DOS, Windows, and Linux. Source code is provided for easy porting to other platforms, including
various RTOSes. Data acquisition toolkits such as LabVIEW and MATLAB may be used with the Windows
drivers. RTD develops its drivers with the application programmer in mind. The driver APIs are designed to be
easy-to-use. Example programs with source code provide a starting point for developing custom applications.
Advanced Digital I/O (aDIO )
The Advanced Digital I/O port provides 16 digital bits configured as eight bit-programmable and 8-bit portprogrammable
I/O giving you any combination of inputs and outputs. Match, event, and strobe interrupt modes
mean no more wasting valuable processor time polling digital inputs. Interrupts are generated on a value
change event, or when the eight bit-programmable digital inputs match a pattern. Bit masking allows the selection
of any subgroup of the eight bits. The strobe input latches data into the bit-programmable port and generates
an interrupt.
