VIDEO EDITING AND SPECIAL EFFECTS $129 (AGES 10-18) If you want to learn to develop and edit a digital movie then this class is for you. You will learn to add background sounds and music, special effects, text, cut unwanted movie clips, merge movie clips, add pictures and upload a movie to YouTube for friends and family to view. You will learn to use variables, expressions, flow control, loops and more to develop an application! This is an excellent introductory course to programming if you are planning to take an AP course in Computer Science, build a career in software development or become a game programmer—one of the hottest career fields today. You will also learn to use array, strings, pointers, dynamic data, and more to develop interactive game. This course is also good for high school students planning to take an AP course in Computer Science or become a game programmer. You will learn to use common functions, expressions, flow control, loops and more to develop an application! Learn to upload and manage the website on the web server and gain basic knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), organize the Website content, develop color schemes, add graphics links, insert multimedia elements, and more. Instructor: NRCLC Staff. 3661 9am-3pm M-F 8/1-8/5 BSTIC 212 DYNAMIC WEBSITE DESIGN $299 WITH JAVASCRIPT (AGES 10-18) Enhance your website by adding dynamics and interactive features using JavaScript components such as attributes, variables, expressions, functions, objects, methods, animated mouse, drop down menu, alert messages, perform calculations, validate data in the forms, add interactive games, add special effects to the images and text, customize graphics selections, dynamically modify color, image and text and more. Pre-req: Website Design or equivalent. There is a $20 materials fee payable at the first class. Instructor: NRCLC Staff. 3788 9am-3pm M-F 8/8-8/12 BSTIC 212 SAFETY CPR/AED: Adult, Child and Infant $25 (Ages 10+) The ability to perform CPR properly is a lifesaving skill that everyone could benefit from learning. This American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) course is OSHA approved and covers CPR and the Heimlich maneuver for adults, children and infants. Participants will also learn how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). In addition, each participant will have his/her own two mannequins on which to practice. Participants will receive a certification card which is valid for two years. Participants must bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope and pen or pencil. $13 materials fee will be collected in class. Not a healthcare provider class. SAFETY, Cont’D. BASIC first AID (Ages 10+) $25 This American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) course is OSHA approved and recommended for anyone interested in learning the basics when it comes to handling some of life’s more common emergencies. This course covers how to treat bleeding, burns, shock and much more. Participants will receive a First Aid card valid for three years. Participants must bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope and pen or pencil. $13 materials fee will be collected in class. Instructor: Sabrina Bradley 3476 3-5pm SAT 7/9 BSTIC 120 SERIOUSLY AWESOME SITTERS (Ages 10+) $50 Here’s the ultimate babysitter preparation class! Not only will you become certified in Basic First Aid and Adult, Child and Infant CPR, but you’ll also learn how to market your services, safely care for children, make healthy snacks, and entertain kids so that you’ll be recognized as an awesome sitter that will be asked back again and again! An additional $40 material fee is payable to the instructor in class for training manuals, certification cards, mannequins, supplies, etc.). The workshop will cover in depth the critical reading section, where students will learn about and practice sentence completion and passage-based reading exercises. The workshop will also cover: vocabulary, the writing section including the essay, identifying sentence errors, improving sentences and paragraphs. There will also be online assignments that need to be completed each week.
