BASIC MACintosH OPERATIONS $40<br />
This course is designed for new and beginning Macintosh users.<br />
It will cover how to navigate the Macintosh operating system;<br />
how to customize it to your preferences; and how to work with<br />
applications to create and organize files. Even if you are an<br />
experienced Mac user, you will probably learn things you didn’t<br />
know you could do with your Mac. You are welcome to use your<br />
MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available. Faculty: Alan<br />

BASIC MACintosH WORD ProCESSING $40<br />
& TYPOGRAPHY<br />
Almost all operations using a computer involve the entering of<br />
text. This class will cover the many aspects of working with text<br />
on a Macintosh. Basic word processing will be covered using<br />
TextEdit, the powerful little word processor that comes with<br />
all Macintoshes. Basic techniques of composing, formatting,<br />
spellchecking, copy & pasting, etc. will be covered. TextEdit uses<br />
many of the features that are available whenever you are entering<br />
text on a Macintosh, such as the font browser, character palette,<br />
keyboard viewer, and the color picker. The Dictionary and Font<br />
Book applications will also be demonstrated. You are welcome<br />
to use your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available.<br />

MAC MAIL, ADDRESS BOOK & ICAL $40<br />
This course will cover three of the most widely used Macintosh<br />
applications. Mail can now be automatically configured to work<br />
with every major internet service provider, and most major<br />
webmail providers, such as Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL. It can be<br />
used to manage multiple email accounts. Address Book will<br />
easily keep track of your contacts, and iCal can be used to track<br />
appointments, schedules, events, etc. A major emphasis will be<br />
placed on the tight integration between these three applications,<br />
such as; contacts are easily added from Mail; your Address book<br />
contacts will auto-fill into new emails; iCal can auto-send email<br />
reminders; and many other functions. You are welcome to use<br />
your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available. Faculty:<br />

MACINTOSH MAINTENANCE $40<br />
& troublesHooting<br />
This course will cover the basic techniques of preventive<br />
maintenance and troubleshooting the occasional problems<br />
encountered on a Macintosh. A basic sequence of steps will<br />
suggested for both software and hardware issues. The Disk Utility<br />
application that comes with all Macintoshes will be demonstrated,<br />
and other third-party utility applications will be recommended.<br />
Backing up your Macintosh will be covered with a demonstration<br />
of Time Machine, OS X’s built-in back up utility, along with<br />
several online backup solutions. Numerous recommendations<br />
for books and online resources will also be discussed. You are<br />
welcome to use your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet<br />

Refund Policy<br />
Full refunds are issued for classes cancelled by <strong>IVC</strong> ..<br />
Student-requested refunds or transfers made three days prior<br />
to the start of class are assessed a $10 fee and students..receive<br />
a six-month credit on account.<br />
Refunds are not available after the class begins.<br />
