BASIC MACintosH OPERATIONS $40
This course is designed for new and beginning Macintosh users.
It will cover how to navigate the Macintosh operating system;
how to customize it to your preferences; and how to work with
applications to create and organize files. Even if you are an
experienced Mac user, you will probably learn things you didn’t
know you could do with your Mac. You are welcome to use your
MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available. Faculty: Alan

BASIC MACintosH WORD ProCESSING $40
& TYPOGRAPHY
Almost all operations using a computer involve the entering of
text. This class will cover the many aspects of working with text
on a Macintosh. Basic word processing will be covered using
TextEdit, the powerful little word processor that comes with
all Macintoshes. Basic techniques of composing, formatting,
spellchecking, copy & pasting, etc. will be covered. TextEdit uses
many of the features that are available whenever you are entering
text on a Macintosh, such as the font browser, character palette,
keyboard viewer, and the color picker. The Dictionary and Font
Book applications will also be demonstrated. You are welcome
to use your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available.

MAC MAIL, ADDRESS BOOK & ICAL $40
This course will cover three of the most widely used Macintosh
applications. Mail can now be automatically configured to work
with every major internet service provider, and most major
webmail providers, such as Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL. It can be
used to manage multiple email accounts. Address Book will
easily keep track of your contacts, and iCal can be used to track
appointments, schedules, events, etc. A major emphasis will be
placed on the tight integration between these three applications,
such as; contacts are easily added from Mail; your Address book
contacts will auto-fill into new emails; iCal can auto-send email
reminders; and many other functions. You are welcome to use
your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet available. Faculty:

MACINTOSH MAINTENANCE $40
& troublesHooting
This course will cover the basic techniques of preventive
maintenance and troubleshooting the occasional problems
encountered on a Macintosh. A basic sequence of steps will
suggested for both software and hardware issues. The Disk Utility
application that comes with all Macintoshes will be demonstrated,
and other third-party utility applications will be recommended.
Backing up your Macintosh will be covered with a demonstration
of Time Machine, OS X’s built-in back up utility, along with
several online backup solutions. Numerous recommendations
for books and online resources will also be discussed. You are
welcome to use your MacBook, and there is wireless Internet

Full refunds are issued for classes cancelled by IVC ..
Student-requested refunds or transfers made three days prior
to the start of class are assessed a $10 fee and students..receive
a six-month credit on account.
Refunds are not available after the class begins.
