Dr. Peter A. Dumbuya is pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> history at Fort<br />

Valley State University in Georgia and attorney at law in<br />

Phenix City, Alabama. He is the author <strong>of</strong> Reinventing<br />

the Colonial State: Constitutionalism, One-Party Rule,<br />

and Civil War in Sierra Leone (2008), and co-author <strong>of</strong><br />

Assessing George W. Bush’s Africa Policy and Suggestions<br />

for Barack Obama and <strong>African</strong> Leaders (2009). Dr.<br />

Dumbuya’s current research focuses on elections, party<br />

politics, and postwar reconstruction in Sierra Leone,<br />

south-south relations between Brazil and Africa, and<br />

United States relations with Africa.<br />
