Requirements This section lists the requirements for the following components and functions of the Casper Suite: • Server JSS Installer for Mac • • JSS Database Utility Package building • Inventory Imaging Remote management Settings management Self Service Mobile device management App distribution Server The minimum requirements for the JAMF Software Server (JSS) are: Java 1.6 • MySQL 5.1 or later Apache Tomcat 6.0 or later • Tested operating systems include: Mac OS X Server 10.6 Mac OS X Server 10.7 Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 Windows Server 2008 • Although you can install the JSS on any server that meets the minimum requirements, JSS Installers are only available for Mac, Linux, and Windows. To install the JSS using any one of these installers, the server must meet the requirements for the installer that you plan to use. Note: To obtain the JSS Installers for Linux and Windows and their documentation, see the introductory email that you received from JAMF Software or contact your JAMF Software Representative. Instructions on how to manually install the JSS are provided in the “Manually Installing the JAMF Software Server” technical paper. JSS Installer for Mac The JSS Installer for Mac requires a Mac computer with: • • A 64-bit capable Intel processor 2 GB of RAM 400 MB of disk space available Mac OS X Server 10.6 or later Java 1.6 MySQL Enterprise Edition 5.5 or later (recommended) or MySQL Community Server 5.5 or later, available at: http://www.mysql.com/downloads/ Ports 8443 and 9006 available JSS Database Utility The JSS Database Utility requires a server with MySQL Server 5.1 or later. Package Building Composer requires a computer running Mac OS X 10.5 or later. Inventory Recon can run locally on the following operating systems: Mac OS X 10.5.x Mac OS X 10.6.x Mac OS X 10.7.x Windows 2000 Windows XP Windows Server 2003 Windows Vista Windows Server 2008 • Windows 7 Recon can remotely acquire computers running Mac OS X 10.5 or later. 17
