SUSTAINER PRESIDENT’S REMARKS
Giving people their dignity is a key factor
in the operation of Bridging Inc. according
to founder Fran Heitzman, who spoke to
nearly 100 Leaguers gathered at the facility
for a JLM 85 th Anniversary Project Impact
event on January 13. A tour of the facility revealed a warehouse of
furniture, bedding, dishes, anything that can furnish a home for a family in need.
In groups, Leaguers mingled to assemble chests and consoles while joking, laughing,
sharing tools and socializing. The other Project Impact event at Second Harvest
Heartland on January 17, demonstrated the collective efforts of 50 women and (2
husbands!) to box 12,000 pounds of food in two hours for hungry people in need!
From hands-on volunteering in January, to music appreciation in February, the
Sustainer year marches on. Come to a Musical Evening at MacPhail Center for Music
on February 18 to warm your heart and lift your spirits with good friends!

JLM Annual (formerly Legacy) Fund in her honor. A gift of $85 or any amount
supports projects and services of the League and keeps on giving.
JLM Fundraiser, The American Girl Fashion Show, “Styles of Yesterday & Today,”

husband, William.

Sustainer Reps to Eve of the Eve: Jane Hopkins Gould, Karen Krygier, Claudia
Sefton, Sara Sternberger, Rita Thysell and to Carol Smith for being a featured
speaker at Eve of the Eve. A few of her remarks, “What makes our projects great
is that we are in the business of creating community solutions...This is a roll up your
sleeves organization that expects hard work but yields rich dividends.”
Lisa Weisman for her work as Sustainer liaison to the 85 th Project Impact Events
committee and to Kathy Klingen for her assistance.
