FLUORIDATION
Malaysian Scenario
• 1957 - Johor was the first state to benefit
from water fluoridation.
• June 1966 – A committee was set to consider
fluoridation throughout the country.
• April 1971 – A report was submitted by the
committee suggesting fluoridation at
national level.
• 1972 – Malaysian cabinet approved the addition of
fluoride to public water supplies as a
primary prevention programme against
dental caries.
