disability shall be denied access to or participation in services, programs and activities at <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong>. In carrying out <strong>Kettering</strong>’s<br />

policy regarding students, employees, and applicants with disabilities, we recognize that disabilities include mobility, sensory, medical,<br />

psychological and learning disabilities, and we will make efforts to provide accommodations for these disabilities for all students who meet<br />

requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).<br />

Any <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> student who has been diagnosed with a physical, medical, psychological or learning disability or suspects that he<br />

or she may have one, should contact the Zelpha McKinnon Wellness Center, which will be responsible for gathering the appropriate<br />

documentation to support the claim of disability, and for making an assessment of the student’s needs on a case-by-case basis. The Wellness<br />

Center will then make recommendations for the appropriate services and accommodations necessary to meet the legal requirements set forth<br />

by the ADA. These recommendations will be provided to staff and faculty who may be responsible for providing the recommended services<br />

and/or accommodations.<br />

Students in the admission process should contact the Wellness Center to discuss the appropriate documentation needed to verify a disability<br />

and the type of services, accommodations and/or adaptive equipment that may be needed.<br />

NOTE: The process for identifying and acquiring special equipment, interpreters and professional note-takers is often lengthy. Therefore,<br />

we recommend you contact the Wellness Center at least two terms prior to your expected admission date, if possible.<br />

The Zelpha McKinnon Wellness Center is located on first floor Campus Center, 810-762-9650, Director Deborah Williams-Roberts.<br />

STUDENT CONDUCT<br />

Academic Integrity<br />

We believe fairness, openness, and intellectual honesty to be the keystones of our educational mission. We foster these qualities in all our<br />

endeavors and use all possible means to discourage dishonesty, in any form. All members of the <strong>Kettering</strong> community should report<br />

academic dishonesty to the appropriate faculty person, as well as to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs. Academic dishonesty prohibited<br />

at <strong>Kettering</strong> includes, but is not limited to, the following forms.<br />

• Cheating: Intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, or study aids in any academic<br />

exercise.<br />

• Fabrication: Intentional and/or unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic<br />

exercise.<br />

• Facilitating Academic Dishonesty: Intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to engage in<br />

academic dishonesty in any form.<br />

• Plagiarism: Intentionally or knowingly representing the words, ideas, or images of another as one’s own in any<br />

academic exercise.<br />

Students found to have carried out any form of academic dishonesty are subject to the faculty member’s scrutiny and sanctions, as well as<br />

Judicial Affairs’ policies and procedures, as outlined in the Judicial Affairs section of the handbook.<br />

Student Rights and Responsibility<br />

In accepting admission to <strong>Kettering</strong>, students agree to abide by the <strong>University</strong> Code of Student Conduct which includes standards of<br />

behavior the <strong>University</strong> considers fundamental to fostering a productive learning environment. The regulations, policies and procedures of<br />

the <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> Code of Student Conduct are fully described in the Student Handbook, which the Division of Student Affairs makes<br />

available to all students electronically on the Student Life web site. Students who violate our Code may be warned, placed on probation, or,<br />

in the most serious cases, dismissed from the <strong>University</strong>. Similarly, if a student believes that someone at the school has behaved inappropriately,<br />

the incident should be reported to the Division of Student Affairs.<br />

Disciplinary Probation or Dismissal<br />

The <strong>University</strong> expects students to conduct themselves responsibly. Any student who violates the <strong>Kettering</strong> Code of Conduct may be<br />

warned, placed on probation, or in serious cases, dismissed from the <strong>University</strong>. All incidences will be investigated by the Chief Student<br />

Judicial Officer. For details, reference the Student Handbook.<br />

Students who are dismissed or suspended for reasons other than academic should refer to the Student Handbook for appeal procedures.
