disability shall be denied access to or participation in services, programs and activities at Kettering University. In carrying out Kettering’s
policy regarding students, employees, and applicants with disabilities, we recognize that disabilities include mobility, sensory, medical,
psychological and learning disabilities, and we will make efforts to provide accommodations for these disabilities for all students who meet
requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Any Kettering University student who has been diagnosed with a physical, medical, psychological or learning disability or suspects that he
or she may have one, should contact the Zelpha McKinnon Wellness Center, which will be responsible for gathering the appropriate
documentation to support the claim of disability, and for making an assessment of the student’s needs on a case-by-case basis. The Wellness
Center will then make recommendations for the appropriate services and accommodations necessary to meet the legal requirements set forth
by the ADA. These recommendations will be provided to staff and faculty who may be responsible for providing the recommended services
and/or accommodations.
Students in the admission process should contact the Wellness Center to discuss the appropriate documentation needed to verify a disability
and the type of services, accommodations and/or adaptive equipment that may be needed.
NOTE: The process for identifying and acquiring special equipment, interpreters and professional note-takers is often lengthy. Therefore,
we recommend you contact the Wellness Center at least two terms prior to your expected admission date, if possible.
The Zelpha McKinnon Wellness Center is located on first floor Campus Center, 810-762-9650, Director Deborah Williams-Roberts.
STUDENT CONDUCT
Academic Integrity
We believe fairness, openness, and intellectual honesty to be the keystones of our educational mission. We foster these qualities in all our
endeavors and use all possible means to discourage dishonesty, in any form. All members of the Kettering community should report
academic dishonesty to the appropriate faculty person, as well as to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs. Academic dishonesty prohibited
at Kettering includes, but is not limited to, the following forms.
• Cheating: Intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, or study aids in any academic
exercise.
• Fabrication: Intentional and/or unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic
exercise.
• Facilitating Academic Dishonesty: Intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to engage in
academic dishonesty in any form.
• Plagiarism: Intentionally or knowingly representing the words, ideas, or images of another as one’s own in any
academic exercise.
Students found to have carried out any form of academic dishonesty are subject to the faculty member’s scrutiny and sanctions, as well as
Judicial Affairs’ policies and procedures, as outlined in the Judicial Affairs section of the handbook.
Student Rights and Responsibility
In accepting admission to Kettering, students agree to abide by the University Code of Student Conduct which includes standards of
behavior the University considers fundamental to fostering a productive learning environment. The regulations, policies and procedures of
the Kettering University Code of Student Conduct are fully described in the Student Handbook, which the Division of Student Affairs makes
available to all students electronically on the Student Life web site. Students who violate our Code may be warned, placed on probation, or,
in the most serious cases, dismissed from the University. Similarly, if a student believes that someone at the school has behaved inappropriately,
the incident should be reported to the Division of Student Affairs.
Disciplinary Probation or Dismissal
The University expects students to conduct themselves responsibly. Any student who violates the Kettering Code of Conduct may be
warned, placed on probation, or in serious cases, dismissed from the University. All incidences will be investigated by the Chief Student
Judicial Officer. For details, reference the Student Handbook.
Students who are dismissed or suspended for reasons other than academic should refer to the Student Handbook for appeal procedures.
