Systems Index<br />
Posts Gains In 2005<br />
The NEMA Lighting Systems Index,<br />
a composite measure of its member<br />
companies’ U.S. shipments of lighting<br />
products, increased 1.1 percent in the<br />
second quarter, marking the index’s<br />
highest reading in four years.Although<br />
the index continues to lag behind the<br />
peak level it set in the closing days of<br />
the late 1990s economic boom, it has<br />
recovered nearly eight percent from<br />
the trough in early 2003.<br />

LED Screens Rush To Take The Stage<br />
Lighthouse Technologies donated the use of 112 large LED screen<br />
displays for the “Art for Life East Hampton” event organized by the<br />
RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation.The event took place at the<br />
estate of Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons in East Hampton, NY, and<br />
benefited more than 70 youth arts organizations in New York City<br />
and Palm Beach County, FL.The LED screens were part of a display<br />
configuration designed by artist Teddy Lo.The display totaled over<br />
108 sq ft and was used in the staging of various performances that<br />
took place at the event. Pictured is hip-hop artist and actor, Mos Def.<br />
Acuity Brands Names Morgan as<br />
President of Lighting Group;<br />
Honeycutt to Retire<br />
Acuity Brands, Inc. has named John K. Morgan the new president and<br />
chief executive officer of Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL). Morgan, who<br />
previously served as president and chief development officer of Acuity<br />
Brands, will replace Kenneth W. Honeycutt, Jr., who will retire on<br />
December 31 after 34 years of service. In addition to Morgan’s position<br />
at ABL, he will also serve as an executive vice president of Acuity<br />
Brands.<br />
Morgan, who worked for 25 years at ALB, served in a number of<br />
positions, including senior vice president of sales and marketing and as<br />
president of Holophane Lighting. He then served as chief operating<br />
officer of Acuity Brands before being named president and chief development<br />
officer.<br />
Vernon J. Nagel, chairman and chief executive officer of Acuity<br />
Brands, will also assume the title and responsibilities of president of<br />
Acuity Brands.<br />
