Symposium
The CIE Standard Colorimetric
Observer and the Inter-Society
Color Council (ISCC) have announced
a call for papers for their
“Expert Symposium on the Standard
Colorimetric Observer”, May 16-17,
2006 at the National Research
Council in Ottawa, Canada. Authors
are invited to submit two-page
extended abstracts of their proposed
contributions by January 15,2006.For

NEMA Lighting
Systems Index
Posts Gains In 2005
The NEMA Lighting Systems Index,
a composite measure of its member
companies’ U.S. shipments of lighting
products, increased 1.1 percent in the
second quarter, marking the index’s
highest reading in four years.Although
the index continues to lag behind the
peak level it set in the closing days of
the late 1990s economic boom, it has
recovered nearly eight percent from
the trough in early 2003.

LED Screens Rush To Take The Stage
Lighthouse Technologies donated the use of 112 large LED screen
displays for the “Art for Life East Hampton” event organized by the
RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation.The event took place at the
estate of Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons in East Hampton, NY, and
benefited more than 70 youth arts organizations in New York City
and Palm Beach County, FL.The LED screens were part of a display
configuration designed by artist Teddy Lo.The display totaled over
108 sq ft and was used in the staging of various performances that
took place at the event. Pictured is hip-hop artist and actor, Mos Def.
Acuity Brands Names Morgan as
President of Lighting Group;
Honeycutt to Retire
Acuity Brands, Inc. has named John K. Morgan the new president and
chief executive officer of Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL). Morgan, who
previously served as president and chief development officer of Acuity
Brands, will replace Kenneth W. Honeycutt, Jr., who will retire on
December 31 after 34 years of service. In addition to Morgan’s position
at ABL, he will also serve as an executive vice president of Acuity
Brands.
Morgan, who worked for 25 years at ALB, served in a number of
positions, including senior vice president of sales and marketing and as
president of Holophane Lighting. He then served as chief operating
officer of Acuity Brands before being named president and chief development
officer.
Vernon J. Nagel, chairman and chief executive officer of Acuity
Brands, will also assume the title and responsibilities of president of
Acuity Brands.
