BUSINESS ITEMS AND REPORTS
Application for Gaming Grant
In discussion it was noted that:
the Sunshine Coast Performance Centre Society has applied for a Gaming Grant
through the Provincial Government. As a Government Body, the District of
Sechelt is not eligible to apply for this Grant;
the funds granted will be used to implement a public consultation process;
the Cultural Complex Task Force and the Performance Centre Society have
similar mandates.
Needs Assessment
In discussion it was noted that:
the Task Force must identify the needs of community groups;
a Needs Assessment will identify needs and indicate whether a feasibility study is
needed;
community groups and individuals will be approached for their input;
community groups will be asked to prioritize their needs and provide a list of the
programs they offer;
a presentation will be produced to introduce a Needs Assessment to the public
(ie: newspaper, local television program or short film);
Emanuel will provide a sample Needs Assessment.
Strategic Planning Workshop
In discussion it was noted that:
a Strategic Planning Workshop for the Task Force is needed to put a timeline
together before approaching the public;
a business model is needed to apply for Government funding;
the library is operating in a space half the size it should be for their service
population. Current library statistics will be provided for future Grant applications;
the revised Terms of Reference and a Members Contact List will be provided for
the next meeting.
