District of Sechelt Minutes – Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee Meeting Page 4 of 5 June 26, 2012 BUSINESS ITEMS AND REPORTS Juried Art Show In discussion of this item, it was noted that: the venue and artists are booked; the walls will be available on Friday to hang art; Robin Mayor, the former President of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, is the Juror; it was suggested that a professional photographer document the show; Nancy will ask Coast Cable to send a videographer to the show. . Nancy left the meeting at 11:08 am. Advisory Committee Budget – Update from Staff Liaison Recommendation No. 5 – Advisory Committee Budget The Advisory Committee budget was received for information. Committee Member List CARRIED Recommendation No. 6 – Committee Member List The Committee Member List was received for information. CARRIED ‘Art of Seeing’ Lecture Series In discussion it was noted that: the confirmed speakers are: • Takao Tanabe, a landscape artist and recipient of the Order of Canada; • Renee Van Helm, the subject of a recent article in Canadian Art Magazine; • Michael O’Brien, confirmed for November 10, 2012; it was suggested that Christian Corbett be contacted regarding being a speaker.
