Editorial Dear Reader Welcome to M-Industry. It gives me great pleasure to present this brochure which will give you some insight into our In dustry Group. M-Industry comprises 18 Swiss and three foreign business enterprises which together manufacture over 20,000 high-quality food and near-food products, offering the best value for money and a traditional and deeply ingrained appreciation of Swiss quality. For M-Industry, Swissness is more than simply a declaration of origin. Swissness is our commitment to optimum quality and reliability. M-Industry is owned by Migros, the leading Swiss retailer. Migros is also our largest customer, because over 90 percent of the products in the Migros range are own brands. In addition, M-Industry supplies other customers within Switzerland and exports its quality products to more than 50 countries, where they are also sold and distributed – most of them as private labels – by top international retail groups and specialist markets. Over the decades, M-Industry has built up a unique expertise in the development, production and marketing of private label concepts. Today, we are able to react quickly and flexibly to the demands and needs of our customers, and offer them customized solutions. Our employees are passionately committed to working with their customers in the continuous development of food and near-food product ranges. Together, we set the trends and develop new products that inspire our customers. Innovation is one of the principal driving forces for our business. Every year, we develop several hundred new products, including “new-to-the-world products”. To continue to keep up with the best in the world, we have a team of 200 or so research and development staff working on the technologies, concepts and products of tomorrow. 4
In everything we do, quality and reliability are what we believe in above all else. But they are not the only values that are important for M-Industry: solidarity with Switzerland and a responsible and sustainable approach to the environment and the resources are also part of our ethos. We are constantly investing in improving energy efficiency in our production; we guarantee the traceability of raw materials; and we are winning customers over with products that are kind to the environment. We also act responsibly towards our employees. Our companies invest a great deal in secure jobs and offer aboveaverage social benefits. A good working environment is just as important as the provision of interesting development and career possibilities at all levels.
