"The Pride and Tradition of the Centurion Foundry will be entrusted to the Courageous, Committed and Strong”
Several years ago our first Strength and Conditioning Coach came up with the name Centurion Foundry. By Definition a foundry is
a place in which metal castings are produced. This along with Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another”,
became the foundations for our program.
This past week I read an article about college athletes and the fact that when student athletes graduate they are better in relationships,
healthier and better prepared to enter the workforce than other college graduates. I believe this can also be said about High
School Athletes. A student athlete has to be focused, disciplined and committed to the goals of the team. We are blessed at Christian
Academy of Louisville to have a school that puts Christ at the center of everything we do. Our academics are second to none and
our Athletic programs are dedicated to making every athlete a disciple. Our students leave CAL ready to face the challenges they
will run into in the next phase of their life.
We keep all this in mind when we design our Sports Performance Program. We want to be the foundry for our sports programs. We
strive to not only build a bigger, faster and stronger athlete but also build a more focused, disciplined and committed team mate. As
we enter the last month of the academic year, I hope all our athletes take some time to set goals for this summer and dedicate a few
hours a week to prepare themselves for next year. Sports Performance is not a program that ends at the end of the school year. Actually
the summer is our most important training cycle. We must make a commitment to using our summer to build a solid strength
foundation and building our teams’ character, tradition and excellence.
