BUSY WEEK FOR JV SOFTBALL
CAL started off the week hosting Oldham County April 22 nd . The Lady Colonels led
early after scoring two runs in the second inning and three runs in the third, but in the
The next day, CAL faced Ballard.
CAL played great defense the first three innings, including three strikeouts in the
first seven batters by Sarah Ratterman and a big catch in the outfield by Alivia
Sinnott, holding Ballard scoreless in the 2 nd after a leadoff triple. In CAL’s first
three innings at the plate, hits by
Lydia Clay and Kayla Chapman
and doubles by Jessica Powell and
Ratterman were left stranded. The
game was tied at zero through
three innings. The Bruins scored
5 in the top of the 4 th inning, and CAL was unable to recover despite a 4 th inning
hit by Leah Jessee. Final score 5-0 Ballard.
Thursday CAL traveled to Eastern. CAL was down 7-0 after the first inning after
several hits, walks, and errors. Hits by Sarah Ratterman, Hannah Howes, Abby
Mattingly, Alivia Sinnott, and Loren Simpson, and doubles by Howes and Brittany
Mumford, were not enough as CAL fell 11-4.
CAL 17 MALE 1
The girls JV team continued their winning ways by earning another victory against Male. The transition defense rarely allowed even
a shot upon the goalie as the bulldogs were held to one goal.
Laura Cornett, Allison Edlin and Caroline Anderson led the scoring while Dana Joss, Melissa Nettles, Maddie Reed and Ashley
Semak also posted goals.
