The Middle School Boys Soccer teams have been extremely busy in the last few
weeks. They have played regularly scheduled games and some make up games
to give those tons of time on the field.
After disappointing losses from both teams to North Oldham, each team came
back with a vengeance against Bondurant, the #1 seed in the league.
CAL VS. BONDURANT
Varsity came out to the Bondurant with their offense loaded. Multiple shots
from Christian Kornegay and Kihun Choi started the ball rolling! Tyler Green
had a great pass to Alazar Barsamian which he sunk easily for a score of 1-0.
The Varsity defense lead by Jordan Fisher, Wes Wegert and Justin
Cole, kept the ball on the CAL side of the field for the rest of the game.
Alazar Barsamian scored again on a penalty kick in the last 5 minutes
of the game to result in a 2-0 win for the Centurions.
Junior Varsity also came out to win against Bondurant. Defense led by
Clay Wolfe and Matthew Noltemeyer, kept the offense hopping. Nathan
Green scored the first goal of the game and goals continued to fall
by Andrew Warren and Jacob Spainhour. The mid-field stood tough
throughout the game with great plays by Danny McElwain and Dawson
Hatfield. At the top of the 2 nd half, Bondurant came back with a couple
of goals themselves for a score of 3-2 which only spurred the Centurions
to continue to fight hard. A
goal by Nathan Shepherd and another
by Hunter Hale had the JV team’s confidence soaring. Nathan Green scored the last goal
of the game with a fabulous win of 6-2!
CAL VS. SHELBY EAST MIDDLE
Varsity had so much support from the defensive and mid-field positions against East Middle, it
was clear early on a win was to be had. Nathan Shepherd came all the way across the field to
score the first goal. And they kept coming from that point forward! Ezra Sanford had a corner
kick that was positioned perfectly for a header by Tyler Green for a 2-0 lead. Tyler Green
scored again to bring the lead to 3-0 in the 12 th minute of the first half. The combination of
Sawyer Skarski and Trae Rick was instrumental in keeping the ball on the offensive side of the
field. Beomseon Do scored quickly again for a 4-0 lead. At the end of the first half another
Centurion goal by Kihun Choi made it 5-0. With a ton of activity in the 2 nd half, CAL continued to make offense plays to add to
the scoreboard. Goals by Kihun Choi, Beomseon Do and K.C. Purvis secured the win 8-1!
J.V. struggled a little against the East Middle Missiles.
East had a 0-3 lead at the half even with
superior play from Connor Bates and Danny
McElwain. CAL continued to fight hard but just
couldn’t get points on the board until the 6 th minute
in the 2 nd half. Jackson Pass and Evan Athanasakes
gave great efforts to work to get CAL
some momentum going, but CAL just came up
short. It was a terrific effort CAL!
