Week of April 22-27, 2013 The 7 th /8 th grade boys lacrosse played several incredible games this week. GAME 1 – CAL VS. HOLY TRINITY MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2013 Holy Trinity proved to be a challenge for the CAL “A” team. Holy Trinity had great defensive and offense players, and tied up the score a few times throughout the game. The game was fast-paced and each point had to be fought for, but the CAL “A” team pulled out to end the game 11-8. Great game!! Scores made by: Isaiah Degen, Chandler Holloway, Cade Sparrow, and Randy Shrout. The CAL “B” team were defeated by Holy Trinity’s “B” team 3 - 2. GAME 2 – CAL VS. SO. OLDHAM TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2013 CAL’s “A” team beat out the South Oldham team 9 – 3. Jacob Spencer had many good saves and the CAL “A” players made some incredible plays. Score assists were made by Jake Paulson, Chandler Holloway, Crosse Wolfe, and Jared Densler. The “B” team started the night with an immediate score made by Dakota Lanham, followed shortly after with a goals made by Garrett Goldman and Caleb Anderson. Cameron Roberts, Liam Scull and Robert Keesaer also scored for an end score of CAL “B” team 8; South Oldham “B” team 0. GAME 3 – CAL “B” TEAM VS. CROSBY “B” SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2013 CAL – 12 CROSBY - 5 GAME 4 – CAL VS. (CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE) “B” TEAM GAME: Following in the shadow of the "A" team victory, the "B" team started strong in their own game against the Crusaders. Cross Wolfe scored the first goal after a contentious 8.5 minutes in the first quarter. The Crusaders put on a strong defense but our boys showed their fighting spirit and took their game to a new level! Jackson Donovan came back quickly spinning and avoiding being blocked to score goal #2 with seconds left in the first quarter, closing that quarter at 2:0 - CAL. In the first minute and a half of the second quarter Jackson D tossed to Liam Scull, who looked for a good position and took a solid throw to the net for goal #3. Jackson Donovan then took 4 valiant throws at the goal, but it was Seth Crutchfield who finally made goal #4 after relentless defense pressure from the Crusaders. Cross Wolfe tried for another goal but caught the post. Meanwhile the defense waited. Back to offense, Dakota Lanham grabbed the ball, ran in and was hit by multiple players but held on to the ball and made the shot under incredible pressure as he fell from a shove, and made goal #5, ending the half at 5:0 - CAL. After the half, the defense got a little action, and defended the goal, sending the action back to the offense at the other end of the field. Garrett Goldman caught his chance behind the goal and swung around the corner to the front of the goal and shot for goal #6. Ten seconds later Parker Jones assisted Seth Crutchfield for goal #7. Meanwhile the defense rested. Jared Densler ran with the ball, looking for a pass when he saw an opening and took the shot straight in for goal #8. After CAL took the ball, Jared Densler threw in from a good distance for his 2nd straight shot bringing the score to 9:0 - CAL. The mom's on the bleacher caught a glimpse of Andrew Barbour looking very relaxed, resting against a pole with legs crossed, as the defense continued to rest! During the last quarter Garrett Goldman spun and fought his way to make #10. Donna Goldman pulled in to the parking lot with 8:19 left in the game. Dakota Lanham fought through a pack of Crusaders to push for goal #11. Donna finally made it through the gate with 4:04 left in the game. She distracted the spectators and we missed goals 12 and 13! David Naiser took a turn on offense and tried a shot at the goal but the shot was successfully blocked. He got another try, carrying the ball down the middle of the field only to have it smacked from his net just feet from the goal with only seconds to go. The whistle then blew, and CAL scored another victory, crushing the Crusaders 13:0! We're looking forward to their next game! 15
