OU Community Health Alliance is an organization of OU medical students, in cooperation
with students across the health science center campus, who aim to better the healthcare
system of Oklahoma City. Through volunteerism we work to uplift, educate, and empower
citizens. The Alliance exposes students to the challenges of providing health care with
limited resources while developing more compassionate and empathetic healthcare
professionals.
Our primary goals:
• Serve the uninsured and underinsured population of Oklahoma City
• Create an intense educational experience for students at all different levels of training
• Expose students to the needs of the community in which we live
• Foster a life-long passion for community service

Join your fellow students to improve healthcare in Oklahoma City. Find an experience that
fits your schedule.
Clinic Volunteer: Spend time seeing patients and learning from OU faculty and
community physicians. Help the 11 partner community free clinics provide excellent
healthcare.
Health Educator: Teach Oklahoma City Elementary School kids to stay tobaccofree
with the AAFP’s Tar Wars program and consider healthcare as a career; Work
with Diabetes patients to develop healthy habits; Be a Clinic Health Educator during
clinic times.
Get Involved in your Community: Help organize events, like Bridges to Access to
benefit your community. Share your passion to make our community a healthier

Become an Officer or Committee Member: OU Community Health Officers and
Committee Members are dedicated to serving the community and their fellow
students while representing OU College of Medicine. We are a passionate and
ambitious group of students, working closely with leaders from the OUHSC
colleges, to provide exciting and relevant experiences in the community for OUHSC
students. Since founding the organization in 2007, we have hosted the Bridges to
Access conference twice, an annual conference involving over 200 OUHSC students,
faculty, and community leaders in a forum to identify the healthcare needs of the
community and find ways to work together to provide novel solutions to improve
healthcare in Oklahoma. To date, students have volunteered 2476 hours in the 11
community clinics and health education programs. OU Community Health Alliance
was honored with the 2009 OUHSC Outstanding Student Organization Award.
Committees include: Education, Grant-Writing, Technology, Communications.
