Cooperation with Sun Yat-sen University
To deepen the cooperation in higher
education in Guangdong and Hong
Kong and to nurture internationalized
talents with theoretical knowledge and
practical skills, PolyU and Sun Yatsen
University signed an agreement
to jointly train PhD students covering
different professional specialities.
In addition, Sun Yat-sen University
is co-running 2+2 undergraduate
programmes with PolyU. After the
first two-year study at Sun Yatsen
University and upon satisfying
the PolyU admission requirements,
students will pursue another two years
of studies in PolyU and finally obtain
the PolyU bachelor’s degree. The
programme has already admitted its
first batch of students in the year 2009
- 2010.

Development in Dongguan
To expand its network and influence
in the mainland, in particular in the
Pearl River Delta region, PolyU and
the Dongguan Municipal Government
are now in discussion of establishing
an institution in Dongguan. The
institution will be positioned as a
quality university of international
class. It aims at enhancing the quality
and skills of local companies and
their management teams, so as to
promote industrial transformation and
to strengthen the competitiveness of
companies in the PRD region. The
two parties have already signed a
letter of intent, agreeing to conduct
a feasibility study on the set up of a
PolyU campus in Dongguan.
