The institute is the professional organisation in Australia, New Zeal<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> South-East<br />
Asia for persons engaged in insurance business <strong>and</strong> is concerned with education,<br />
training <strong>and</strong> professional development in all branches of insurance. The institute<br />
conducts direct examinations, mainly in insurance subjects, to educate <strong>and</strong> promote the<br />
career progression of insurance professionals. On completion, qualified persons may<br />
be elected as fellows, senior associates <strong>and</strong> members of the institute. It runs discussion<br />
groups <strong>and</strong> clubs throughout Australia <strong>and</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>.<br />

FINANCE SECTOR UNION OF AUSTRALIA<br />
The Finance Sector Union of Australia (FSU) represents employees in the finance<br />
industry in Australia. It is committed to fostering members’ ambitions <strong>and</strong> protecting<br />
their rights <strong>and</strong> interests in accordance with the objectives of the union <strong>and</strong> relevant<br />
industrial laws. It advises <strong>and</strong> supports employees, <strong>and</strong> aims to ensure their needs<br />
are met.<br />
The FSU is a registered organisation under the Workplace Relations Act 1996 <strong>and</strong> is<br />
affiliated with the Australia Council of Trade Unions. It has branches in all states <strong>and</strong><br />
national offices in Melbourne <strong>and</strong> Sydney. Full-time officials are elected for a four-year<br />
