General Information As the student, you are responsible for dropping classes by the stated deadlines. If you register in a class and later change your mind, it is your responsibility to drop the class. Payment of fees may be made: • Online by credit card (Visa, MasterCard) or WebCheck • Through the mail by check or money order, payable to SBCC and mailed to: Santa Barbara City College Attention: Cashier’s Office 721 Cliff Drive Santa Barbara, CA 93109-2394 Write your Student I.D. number on the face of your check. DO NOT MAIL CASH! • In person at the SBCC Cashier’s Office by cash, check, money order, or credit card. There will be a $20 service charge on all returned checks. Go to www.sbcc.edu/financialaid for information on financial aid opportunities, or visit the Financial Aid Office (SS-210) before registering in classes. All fees are subject to change without notice. Price includes shipping, handling, postage and applicable credit card processing fees. All Day/Eve Parking Permit..........$33.25 Evening Only ..............................$18.25 Purchased Online through Pipeline BOGW BOGW students are eligible for a reduced $20 Day/Evening permit. Adjustment to your student account will be automatically processed for overpayment of parking fees if a student becomes BOGW-qualified after paying the standard parking permit fee. All Day/Eve......................................$20, plus a $3.25 convenience fee which covers shipping, handling, postage and applicable credit card processing fees p Many health/wellness services are available free or at low cost through Student Health Services (SS-170). The Santa Barbara Community College District exempts apprentices, dependent children and surviving spouses of members of the California National Guard who are killed or permanently disabled while in the active service of the state, and students who depend on prayer for healing. • All students registered in on-campus classes pay the Transportation Fee and may ride the Metropolitan Transit District bus seven days a week. Beginning one week prior to the start of the semester, students ride by simply showing their student I.D. when boarding the bus, with the exception of the Waterfront Shuttle. q This fee supports student representatives who state positions/viewpoints before city, county and district governments, and before offices/agencies of city, state and federal governments. For exemptions, go to www.sbcc.edu/fees. REFUND INFORMATION Enrollment and tuition fees will be refunded by course deadlines. Check your Schedule/Bill for deadline dates. For additional information on refunds, go to www.sbcc.edu/fiscal services/cashier. Last day to submit a refund application is December 20, 2013. Students are not eligible to a refund after this date. A $10 per session processing charge will be deducted from enrollment fee refunds. The charge does not apply to classes cancelled by the college. If classes are dropped after the first two weeks of the semester, the following fees are not eligible for a refund: Health Services, Student Representation, Parking, Transportation and Student Activity. Parking Permits must be returned intact to the Cashier’s Office (SS-150) prior to the first day of the semester for a refund. REGISTRATION HELP Application Submitted? If you received an error message stating “You require re-admission prior to registration”, you need to submit an application for admission. If you are not a current SBCC student, your first step is to complete the online application for admission at www.sbcc.edu/apply. Once your application is received and processed and you complete any preregistration requirements, you will be eligible to register on or after your appointment date. What’s My Username and Password? Go to Pipeline, http://pipeline.sbcc.edu. Follow the instructions at ‘Start Here’. When to Register? Log on to Pipeline http://pipeline.sbcc.edu and go to Registration and Student Records. Review your registration status, which will include your pre-registration requirements and your registration appointment time. Pre-registration Requirements and Holds? View pre-registration requirements and holds on Pipeline at http://pipeline.sbcc.edu. All pre-registration requirements and holds must be cleared to allow registration, to add or drop a class, or to release academic
General Information records. Check and resolve holds prior to registering. See ‘Registration Information’ for more information, or contact Admissions & Records, (805) 730-4300. Class Closed/Full? You have several options: 1. Search for an open section of the class at www.sbcc.edu/classes or at http://pipeline.sbcc.edu. 2. Keep trying to add the class as seats or waitlist slots may open up during the registration period. 3. Go to the first class meeting; if the instructor has available seats, request an Add Authorization Code. Remember to use your Add Authorization Code to register online before the add deadline. 4. For online courses, students should contact the instructor. Add deadlines are strictly enforced. Entering Add Authorization Code? From the Add/Drop Classes page on Pipeline, input the CRN of the class and click on “submit changes.” Enter the Add Authorization Code provided to you by the instructor. Click “verify” and then continue. Submit your changes, verify by reviewing your schedule, and pay fees. Time Conflicts? You will not be able to register for classes that have time conflicts. Under special circumstances you can request approval for a time conflict of 10 minutes or less if approved by the instructor and Admissions & Records. Obtain the Petition to Allow Time Conflict from Admissions & Records or at www.sbcc.edu/forms. Prerequisites? Prerequisites are enforced. Students may test into English 60-110; Math 1-150; Psychology 150; and all English as a Second Language (ESL) reading, writing or grammar courses. If you completed your prerequisite course with a grade of “C” or better at Santa Barbara City College, no action on your part is required. If you completed your prerequisite course at another college, you must submit a Prerequisite Challenge and official transcripts. Deadlines apply. For details: www.sbcc.edu/prerequisites. Corequisites? You have attempted to add a course that has a corequisite. You must add the corequisite course at the same time. The CRN (Course Reference Number) of the corequisite course is specified in the status message. Error Messages?
