FOR THE
105 th ANNUAL
CONVENTION
Convention procedures for handling resolutions
are fully out lined under “Policy - Resolutions” on
our website at www.suma.org.
Resolutions may also be submitted by the SUMA
Board or de veloped as part of a workshop or
plenary session at the Con vention (where they
received at least two-thirds concurrence).
Resolutions have been organized by the
Resolutions Com mittee according to topic and
type of issue, and will gener ally be debated
and voted on at the Resolutions Session in
numerical order. However, those sponsored by
the Board of Directors may be introduced at any
time during the Annual Convention.
Sponsors must “second” the motion to consider
each resolution and are generally limited to
three minutes speaking time (with two for other
speakers) before a one-minute closing remark.
Voting in all sessions shall be by show of voting
cre dentials, unless a vote by ballot is requested
by twen ty-five (25) voting delegates prior to the
call for a vote. Where there is not a ballot vote,
the Chairperson of the Resolutions Session
may call for a standing count on any resolution,
normally prior to the call for votes against.
In the case of a ballot vote, each ballot cast
by Regina and Saskatoon delegates shall be
counted as seven (7) votes.
