8. Support for Maintenance of Museum Facilities

Whereas Museums are a vital part of history in Saskatchewan; and
Whereas there is no provincial funding available for the maintenance of museums; and
Whereas the cost of maintaining museum facilities is expensive and without assistance museums
will be forced to close;
Therefore be it resolved that the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association lobby the
Government of Saskatchewan to assist local municipalities in funding the maintenance of municipally
owned museum buildings.
9. Cost Share for Power Upgrades to Regional Parks

Whereas Regional Parks are a vital part of tourism in Saskatchewan; and
Whereas Saskatchewan is experiencing an increase in tourism; and
Whereas much of this increase in tourism is being seen at our regional parks; and
Whereas many of the parks are trying to expand to accommodate this growth; and
Whereas much of the costs are related to power expansion;
Therefore be it resolved that the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association lobby the
Government of Saskatchewan to cost share all upgrades for power expansion in regional parks.
10. Additional Funding for Northern Communities to Comply with
Environmental Standards
New North – Saskatchewan Association of Northern Communities
Whereas Northern communities cannot afford the costs associated with the maintenance and
decommissioning of their landfills; and
Whereas Northern communities are experiencing high costs with respect to complying with landfill
and water management regulations; and
Whereas Northern communities are being pressured to comply with all the regulations regarding
landfills;
Resolutions
Therefore be it resolved that the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association lobby
Saskatchewan Environment for funds to assist Northern communities in complying with these
regulations as well as any other environmental regulations passed down in the near future.
