Database Development: <strong>The</strong> Classification Analysis and Production Team,<br />
Technical Guidance Division, Office ofNuclear and National Security<br />
lnfonnation, hosted the Technical Guidance Division Database Working Group<br />
and completed the prioritization ofall requirements. At the next meeting, we plan<br />
to detennine the implementation steps, bow the requirements document will be<br />
used, and decide on a recommended topic numbering scheme. Since all ofthe<br />
current off-the-shelf commercial solutions for such systems are network based, the<br />
implementation ofthis program will require access to a classified LAN. <strong>The</strong><br />
demonstration oflhe functionality ofa classification guidance database and an<br />
automated update process is one of the Office of Security and Emergency<br />
Operations perfonnance metries for this coming year.<br />

Guidance Strea.mlining Initiative Meeting Planning: <strong>The</strong> Classification<br />
Analysis and Production Team, Technical Guidance Division, Office ofNuclear<br />
and National Security Infonnation, concluded planning for the Guidance<br />
Streamlining meeting next week in Las Vegas, NV. <strong>The</strong> Headquarters<br />
representatives bad a fmal meeting to review the material to be presented. <strong>The</strong><br />
first purpose ofthe meeting is to familiarize the field with the current status of<br />
guidance streamlining and to show them bow (l database system will help reduce<br />
duplications and inconsistencies in tbe classification guides. <strong>The</strong>ir assistance will<br />
be integral to the success of future guidance streamlining activities. <strong>The</strong> second<br />
purpose ofthe meeting is to develop rules and guidelines for streamlining and<br />
rearranging the classification topics by subject area via a Master Subject List. <strong>The</strong><br />
third purpose of the meeting will be to try the actual rearrangement of<br />
classification topics in two subject areas. In addition, the streamlining rules and
