Briefing on Guidance Streamlining Initiative Meeting: <strong>The</strong> Technical<br />

Guidance Division. Office ofNudear and National Security Information<br />

(ONNSI), briefed the Acting Director and the Acting Deputy Director of ONNSI<br />

on the Guidance Streamlining Initiative meeting at the DOE Nevada Operations<br />

Office during the week ofJanuary 22. Over 20 classification and computer<br />

experts from the field and Headquarters organizations attended the Las Vegas<br />

meeting. <strong>The</strong> field representatives were briefed on guidance streamlining and the<br />

group worked to define effective streamlining processes and guidelines for<br />

carrying out classification guidance streamlining. <strong>The</strong> group suggested that a<br />

more ronnal working group with a charter be fonned to develop effective<br />

processes and guidelines by streamlining classification guidance in one technical<br />

area. In addition to supporting guidance streamlining, the streamlined topics<br />

being developed will be used in ongoing guide revisions in the Technical<br />

Guidance Division. <strong>The</strong> group planned to meet again in late April to complete the<br />

work.<br />

Reply from the Department of Defense on Proposed. Declassification of<br />

United Kingdom Plutonium Information: <strong>The</strong> Technical Guidance Division.<br />

Office ofNuclear and National Security Infonnation, bas received a formal reply<br />

from the Department of Defense regarding the proposed declassification ofUnited<br />

Kingdom plutonium information and is presently preparing an issue paper for the<br />

Director, Office of Security Affairs.<br />

Infrastructure Asset Evaluation (lAE): <strong>The</strong> Technical Guidance Division,<br />

Office ofNuclear and National Security Infonnation, continued support to the<br />

Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office. Training on classification/security<br />

procedures for the lA.E forms was provided to the Lawrence Livermore National<br />

Laboratory, the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Sandia National<br />

Laboratories. the Y -12 Plant, the Pantex Plant, and the Savannah River Site in a<br />

televideo conference. Also. 15 completed IAE ionns were reviewed for the<br />

Office ofEnvironmental Management.<br />
