1.2 Internet Access<br />

There are three ways to access the Internet via ISDN:<br />

• by synchronous PPP or Multilink PPP<br />

• by bit rate adaptation V.120<br />

• by B channel protocol X.75<br />

It depends on the access facilities of your Internet service provider (ISP) or<br />

Point-of-presence (POP) which one you may use (see figure 1).<br />

1.3 AOL/CompuServe Access<br />

AOL/CompuServe is accessed via ISDN by the protocol V.120 or X.75 (see picture<br />

1). It depends on the access facilities of your AOL/CompuServe access point which<br />

one you have to use (see figure 1). The increasingly common protocol used is X.75.<br />

1.4 T-Online<br />

T-Online (German Online Service) is accessed via ISDN by the protocol<br />

synchronous PPP (see figure 1).<br />

1.5 Remote LAN Access<br />

To access a LAN remotely via ISDN you have to choose the appropriate protocol<br />

that is used by the ISDN router on the LAN.<br />

1.6 Service<br />

<strong>Stollmann</strong> has installed a Windows-NT-Server just for test purposes. The Server<br />

supports the RAS (Remote Access Service) with full 64 kbps in one single B<br />
