birth, coverage will be effective<br />

on the first of the month following<br />

receipt of application.<br />

3. If an application is received by your<br />

benefits/payroll/personnel office<br />

for active employees or <strong>ET</strong>F for<br />

annuitants/continuants, upon order<br />

of a federal court under a National<br />

Medical Support Notice, coverage<br />

will be effective on either:<br />

• the first of the month following<br />

receipt of application by the<br />

employer; or<br />

• the date specified on the medical<br />

support notice.<br />

Note: This can occur when a parent<br />

has been ordered to insure one or<br />

more children who are not currently<br />

covered.<br />

7. Which other changes can only be<br />

made during the It’s <strong>Your</strong> <strong>Choice</strong><br />

Open Enrollment period if my health<br />

insurance premiums are taken pretax?<br />

During the annual enrollment period,<br />

you can add or drop coverage for<br />

yourself and/or your adult dependent<br />

children or do a spouse/domestic<br />

partner to spouse/domestic partner<br />

transfer of your health insurance<br />

coverage.<br />

8. What if my spouse or domestic partner<br />

and I work for the same employer?<br />

<strong>Your</strong> employer may determine<br />

whether married employees or<br />

domestic partners may each elect<br />

single or family coverage, or if they<br />

are eligible for family coverage<br />

through only one of the spouses/<br />

domestic partners.<br />

Note: For domestic partners, further<br />

information is available at etf.wi.gov.<br />

9. What if my spouse or domestic partner<br />

is a State of Wisconsin employee or<br />

annuitant?<br />

You may each retain or select single<br />

coverage, family coverage or you may<br />

select one family plan. See Frequently<br />

Asked Question 12 in the It’s <strong>Your</strong><br />

<strong>Choice</strong>: Reference <strong>Guide</strong> for details.<br />

10. How do I change health plans during<br />

the It’s <strong>Your</strong> <strong>Choice</strong> Open Enrollment<br />

period?<br />

If you decide to change to a different<br />

plan, you are encouraged to make<br />

changes online using the my<strong>ET</strong>F<br />

Benefits website (see Pages 76 and<br />

77 of this <strong>Guide</strong>), or you may submit<br />

a paper application per the following<br />

instructions:<br />

• Active employees may use the<br />

application in the back of this<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>, get one from <strong>ET</strong>F’s Internet<br />

site at etf.wi.gov/publications/<br />

et2301.pdf, or receive blank<br />

applications from your benefits/<br />

payroll/personnel office to<br />

complete and return to that office.<br />

• Annuitants and continuants should<br />

complete the application in the<br />

<strong>Decision</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> Page 10
