There are several organizations that provide useful information about health care<br />

Leapfrog<br />
Leapfrog is a nationwide effort to address<br />
patient safety in hospitals, focusing on<br />
hospital quality and safety practices<br />
proven to reduce medical errors and<br />
save lives.<br />
Through the Leapfrog website,<br />
consumers can select hospitals and<br />
compare their patient safety ratings<br />
performance.<br />

CheckPoint<br />
CheckPoint is a program sponsored<br />
by the Wisconsin Hospital Association.<br />
It provides a snapshot of hospital<br />
performance, and information may be<br />
used to compare how well hospitals<br />
administer recommended care. The<br />
128 hospitals that currently participate<br />
in CheckPoint provide care to 99% of<br />
Wisconsin’s patient population.<br />

Wisconsin Collaborative for<br />
Healthcare Quality<br />
The Wisconsin Collaborative for<br />
Healthcare Quality (WCHQ) provides<br />
links to a variety of performance<br />
measures that compare information from<br />
participating physician groups, hospitals<br />
and health plans. Consumers can view<br />
reports comparing the performance of<br />
providers on measures such as diabetes<br />
management, heart care, patient<br />
experience, pneumonia, cardiac surgery,<br />
surgery, women’s health, chronic care,<br />
preventive care and more.<br />

Hospital Compare<br />
The Hospital Compare tool provides<br />
information about how well hospitals<br />
care for patients with specific medical<br />
conditions or surgical procedures and<br />
survey results from patients about the<br />
quality of care they received during a<br />
recent hospital stay. The site was created<br />
through the joint efforts of the Centers<br />
for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the<br />
U.S. Department of Health and Human<br />
Services, and other members of the<br />
Hospital Quality Alliance.<br />
