Lilydale campus is served by train and buses. The campus is on the Lilydale train line.<br />

Numerous buses leave from Lilydale Station.<br />

Limited off-street parking facilities are provided forfull-time and part-time students.<br />

Conditions of use<br />

Use of car parks is strictly atthe owner's risk and is subjectto:<br />

a current <strong>Swinburne</strong> parking permit or sticker valid forthe car park in question<br />

being clearly displayed on the windscreen;<br />

availability of space in the car park;<br />

the car being within a marked bay;<br />

any fees or charges being paid;<br />

the driver's observance of parking signs or directions given by any of <strong>Swinburne</strong><br />

Parking or Security Officers.<br />

Parking permits<br />

Available from Facilities and Services. Student identity card is required.<br />

Part-time students<br />

Evening and other part-time students may not leave cars in <strong>Swinburne</strong> car parks<br />

during the day while they attend work.<br />

Short course students<br />

Students require a parking permit issued by the office organising the course.<br />

Availability of space is not assured.<br />

Hours of access<br />

The main car parks open at 7.00am and close at 1 0.30pm. Parking Fees range from<br />

$1.00 for up to one hour, $2.00 up to two hours and $3.00 all day. Car parks on some<br />

campuses are open twenty-four hours. Students are warned against leaving cars in<br />

parks overnight.<br />

Infringement of parking rules<br />

Failure to comply with parking regulations could incur a Parking Infringement Notice<br />

of up to $40.00. Under the Road Safety Act 1986, the fines are enforceable in court.<br />

Those who abuse the system are also liable to have their parking privileges<br />

withdrawn and the parking permits for their cars revoked.<br />

Students with disabilities<br />

Consideration is given to the provision of reserved spaces for students with physical<br />

disabilities. Enquiries should be directed to the Equity Unit, Hawthorn (03)9214 8855<br />

and Prahran (03)92146743.<br />

Motorcycles and bicycles<br />

Campus motorcycle parking and bicycle rack locations can be obtained from Facilities<br />

and Services at each campus.<br />

Location of carparks<br />

On-campus parking areas are indicated on the campus maps in this <strong>Handbook</strong> and on<br />

the reverse of parking applications and permits. Subject to change.<br />

Multi-deck Carpark (Wakefield Street)<br />

The complex provides parking for more than 680 cars. The five deck car park will<br />

solve many ofthe problems local residents and the <strong>Swinburne</strong> community has faced<br />

as <strong>Swinburne</strong> has grown.<br />

services listed atthe Hawthorn campus are also available atthe Lilydale campus and<br />

The Counselling Service is available to students and their partners, staff and<br />

graduates up to 12 months after completion of their course. The Service is free and<br />

strictly confidential.<br />

The service includes individual counselling by appointment or on a 'drop-in' basis,<br />

group workshops for students and staff and consultancy to staff to enhance their<br />

work environment. The counsellors, who are registered psychologists, assist with<br />

areas such as:<br />

Life skills and personal development<br />

Relationship and interpersonal education<br />

Effective strategies for stress management and problem solving<br />

Cross-Cultural Counselling and Workshops for:<br />

Adjustment to Australian society and university life<br />

Cross-cultural communication<br />

Awareness of cultural differences<br />

Specialised strategies to improve learning and academic performance<br />

The Learning Skills area enhances student learning and assists students who are<br />

having problems with their learning. Counselling and workshops are offered in the<br />
